I haven't been posting much b/c life's just been busy. But Everyone here seems so nice and always has good wishes & prayers that I figured it couldn't hurt to put the word out for some extra thoughts & prayers.
Anyway, my dad had a stroke this afternoon, luckily they got him to the hospital with enough time to try to reverse the effects of the stroke. It's still very early, but he is doing pretty well from what I understand. I didn't go up to the hospital tonight b/c he was still in emergency, but I talked to him & he says he'll be ok. I am not even sure what to say or do or think...just want him to be ok.
Please keep him in your thoughs. Thank you :flower3:

God bless you and your father. Special prayer for him tonight.

Sending prayers that he is alright. It is good news the he was even able to speak, to talk to you on the phone. I'm sure they'll take good care of him. I hope he is well and back home soon!

Hi all,
Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers. Went to see my dad last night, he was still good as far as talking and comprehending things. He has some paralysis on his right side, however, Wednesday night he could not move his arm or leg but last night was able to move his arm to cut his food and lift things like cups, phone etc. He does not have full mobility, but it is still very early to tell if it will be permanent or temporary but everyone is hopeful that it will be temporary. I know that he is very lucky and thank God that there is new medicine out there to help stroke patients.
I'll keep you all updated. Keep the prayers & thoughts coming :grouphug:

You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. They help so much when things like this happen. Hope all continues to go in a good direction. :grouphug:

Jessica-

Best wishes for full healing for your dad. If he's already got partial movement of the side that was affected, I think that's a very good sign that he has a very good shot at being able to recover well. You'll know in the weeks ahead... he may have good days and then some days that things seem to go backward. Just love him and be patient as the spots that were damaged in his brain work to repair themselves.

My dad had a stroke at the beginning of March... we've had a long year of rehab and relearning how to do simple things. :guilty:

If you need to talk or find an understanding ear, this board is a wonderful place to turn.

HUgs.. I am so glad that he seems to be doing ok.. try not to worry, he is in the best place getting help and he was talking to you telling you that he is fine.. that is a good thing..

Best wishes.

Our dear aunt had a massive right stroke on December 1st last year (while we were at WDW on her insistence). Her recovery has been remarkable, but is not and will not ever be complete; that's been very difficult for us all to process (she has no family other than my DH and myself; and we've been extremely close for the last 6-7 years).

Anyway, best wishes and good thoughts for your dad and your whole family.

Pixie Dust,
EG

Hi all,
Sorry I haven't responded for a while, I just haven't been on the boards. I just wanted to let you all know my dad had an amazing few weeks of recovery, he was released from rehab last week and was very happy to be home, even able to make it up the stairs with the help of a walker.
Unfortunately, he suffered another stroke this afternoon. Again, they got him in quickly and were able to administer the TPA. It is on the same side that he had the paralysis on before, but was able to move a little. The doctor was very optimistic.
Its such a set back for him, he was very excited that the therapists were going to spring him from his walker & have him only using a cane as of next week - so he'll have to go through all of that all over.
They are probably going to send him for the procedure to fix the hole in his heart sooner now (orig scheduled for Jan), since that appears to be the problem.
Anyway, I feel like I am rambling. I am thankful for your thoughts and prayers, and encouraged by knowing there are hopeful stories out there.
Hope you are all having a good holiday season.

:santa:

I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone. Even with just a few of you responding, this board was a nice place to turn to. Just so you all know, my dad had surgery to repair the hole in his heart which was causing the strokes. He came through that well, however had some weird complication with his spinal cord a few days after. Luckily he was still at the hospital when it happened.
He came home on Thursday the 27th & was very happy to be home - he took a long hot shower until they ran out of hot water, and then flopped in his recliner. He even came to my son's bday party on Saturday and wanted to go out on New Years, but I don't think his wife let him.
He still has a lot of therapy to go through, but hopefully things are looking up.
Hope you all had wonderful holidays, I know ours felt a little more blessed this year. :grouphug: to all!
