Just because he's moving to celebration and follows Disney dreamers he acts like he's an imaganeer now. So he tells me like he's in the know that the movie ride is being ousted for star wars? Is that still just typical DHS speculation? Or is that officially happening? He also mentioned frozen being incorporated into the Norway boat ride. Which I have heard a lot more about. What's real and what isn't?

Oh God these rumors are never going to die. Alright wellllllll there has been some rumors here and there that Frozen is moving into Norway at some point. Just talk on different boards nothing really official. Now the Great Movie Ride thing goes back like two years from Screamscape who said a Star Wars Ride was replacing the Great Movie Ride. They also said Cars was going in there as well so their rumors are like nothing to get overly excited about. Maybe they are thinking it maybe they are not but I sure wish the rumors would just DIE! Like leave forever...never again to return....ever.....EVER....thank you.

Don't get me wrong. Frozen in Norway is a good idea. I don't wanna see the movie ride go tho. Blowing out Pixar place makes the most sense. Pixar drives big box office and it just seems to fit there. Bugs life replacing honey I shrunk the kids park. Big monster ride, and a big cars area in back. No reason to expand on star wars yet. Maybe putting it into the movie ride instead of a full replacement would be best.

I think Star Wars will definitely come but it probably won't until the new movies are out. Star Wars is the only franchise Disney has right now that is as big or bigger than potter. Star Wars trumps Pixar any day but Disney needs to expand on both in DHS and right now they are doing nothing.

. . . What's real and what isn't?

1) This is a tough question to consider.
2) Until announced, things are never "real".
3) But, there ARE two major things truly under consideration.

. . . they are dusting-off an Imagineers design for a SeaWorld-type park
. . . the idea is to take business away from the SW park
. . . remember, this is just under consideration

. . . the other are the buildings to be replaced by a Star Wars "land"
. . . this may or may not include GMR
. . . however, GMR is so outdated that it does make logical sense

Totally depends on the execution, but I am leaning towards this being a bad idea. If tastefully integrated into Malestrom, I would be OK with that. If they destroy Malestrom for the sole purpose of "pimping out" their latest and greatest animated kids movie, then Houston, we have a problem.

The purpose of World Showcase is to "showcase" the histories, cultures and traditions of the various nations represented. I get that "history" doesn't really appeal to young kids, nor does it get them clamoring for Mommy and Daddy to buy 7-day park hoppers, but whatever the decision is, I hope that a balance is struck between "keeping things fresh" without totally destroying a classic.

5th gate would be awesome. People keep talking building a Star Wars park I keep saying that would never happen a land would make more sense. Now a sea world type park would be pretty cool. I also would think Star Wars has to come at some point it's too big not too. I agree GMR is bad they need to redo it or get rid of it.

I can't believe all the people who say GMR is a bad ride! It's a true classic and actually the centerpiece of the studios, it's what the studios is built around. It takes people through the classic movies of all time and doesn't need to be updated to any modern movie! I could see updating some of the animatronics etc. and maybe adding one of the newer classics such as Star Wars but overall it doesn't need for major changes.

It is a good ride I like it but it hasn't been touched in years there is never a wait for the thing. The movies in the ride most of today's kids don't know. I would much rather it stay but they need to update it give it a refresh. It doesn't appeal to as many as it used to something needs to be done to it.

I can't imagine a SW type park without charismatic big animals like orcas and I can't imagine orcas given all the negative publicity around blackfish etc

Do you think that Norway could really handle the crowd, and the line that a Frozen attraction would result in? Disney might want to think this through a little more before they jump the gun on this one.

The last two times I've been this year, there had been quite the wait for GMR. We got FP's for HS and since there's not a lot to choose from, we did GMR as the third pick. Girlfriend laughed and said there's never a wait..which is normally the case. We got there and standby was a 45 min wait. There was more people in line outside than I had ever seen.

Sometimes you walk by and it'll be a 5 min wait, other times lately it'll be 30-45 min.

I agree. GMR is one of our favorites, and my both my daughters always come off of it with another classic movie or movie style they want to watch. My husband and I challenge each other to name as many movies as we possibly can in the massive amount of clips they show.

Well in my case I've never waited more than 10 minutes for that ride. It's a great ride but a little updating or fixing could make it much better.

I am trying really hard to see if you are joking or being honest about your first set of comments.....are you serious? Cause if this is the dark kingdom thing then they can just send it back to the depths of the ocean where it belongs.

I normally go on it everytime I go to HS, but I would never wait more than 15 min. I don't understand what the influx of crowds have been lately at the ride.

I think it would be cool with some newer animatronics and add in a few more scenes from movies. Star Wars, Back to the Future, Titanic..there's quite a few good classic movies they could add in.

Exactly just a little updating and it can be a great ride again. I think they should add some movies from the last 10 years that today's youth would know and that would help the ride. That would probably also increase it's popularity and a walk on wouldn't be so frequent.

I would agree to changing one of the scenes to be something from the last 10 years. GMR is meant to showcase the entirety of Hollywood film. So looking at what is currently there:

The Public Enemy – 1931 (gangster/crime)
Tarzan – 1931 (adventure)
Footlight Parade – 1933 (musical)
Wizard of Oz – 1939 (Fantasy/Musical)
Fantasia – 1940 (animation)
Casablanca – 1942 (drama)
Singin in the Rain – 1952 (Musical)
The Searchers – 1956 (Western)
Mary Poppins – 1964 (Family/Musical)
Alien – 1979 (Sci-Fi/Horror)
Raiders of the Lost Ark – 1981 (action/adventure)

I think you could probably eliminate Footlight Parade (there are already 3 other films from the 30's and 3 other musicals) or maybe Tarzan. I wouldn't mind seeing it expand in the other direction and add a silent film scene. Maybe Charlie Chaplin.

I would say probably 9 times out of 10 most kids or teens wouldn't know what footlight parade was or is.

It's the only film on the ride that I didn't know. Personally, I think it's the only weak spot. I think the others are (or should be) widely known or at least have some entertainment value in the way they are presented.

That's not to say there aren't better films out there.
