They are doing surgery today. Please keep him in your thoughts & prayers if you are so inclined. Thanks,

Wishing your Dad a speedy recovery. Hope you get to Disney World soon.

Sending good thoughts and pixie dust. My mom had a detached retina, the surgery and recovery are not fun at all, but her eye healed well and today her vision is good. Tell your dad he's got to follow doctor's orders for a good recovery.

I hope the surgery goes well, just thinking about a detached retina sends a chill down my spine.

Sending prayers ~ it's a scary surgery!

Both of my DH's retinas detached last year about this time. One needed surgery and one they did with a laser. It took several months before he could really see well and he just started driving at night again a few months ago.

A year later, he has 20/20 vision in the eye that was fixed with the laser and 20/40 in the eye that needed surgery. He is completely recovered and doesn't even wear his glasses half the time.

My mom and brother both had this surgery years ago and are doing great. I hope he recovers quickly!

Thanks, everyone! The surgery went well. The Dr was pleased. Now, the "face down" recovery stage....

Modern treatment for this is so successful and civilized compared with what it used to be years ago. My great aunt had her detached retina repaired about 30 years ago and it worked, but I won't go into any details!:scared1:

The secret is to follow all the post-treatment orders for a full recovery, and I hope everything works our well for your Dad.:grouphug:

So glad to hear the surgery went well! Prayers and pixie dust to you and your dad while he recuperates. :)

I can sympathize with him on the "face down" phase.

I cant describe it any other way than to be blunt and say it sucks.

Tell him to be diligent about it.

I found watching movies on my iphone helped a lot.

Good luck.
