My dad doesn't get to vote.

Three weeks ago my dad was sent to Corpus Christie for two days for work. They liked him so much they are making him stay until the end of the year. He does get to come home every other week end. Well there is no early voting on the week ends here and it was too late to request an absentee ballot. This is the first time in his life that he will not vote.

I don't know Texas but here in NJ you can vote by absentee up until today, just walk in to the County Clerks office. Is there anyway he can do that?

No, they have to send him a form to his hotel and then he has to send it back. Then they will mail him a ballot. It had to all be done two weeks ago. He has already talk to the head of the county elections. They told him sorry.

That's a shame. There should be some type of system in place for things like this and emergencies.

by law, they have to give him time to go vote. Since it sounds like Corpus Christi isn't anywhere near his polling place, it seems to be that would fit in the "if the polls aren't open for 2 consecutive hours outside the employees workday". So I would think they have to allow him to go home to vote on Tuesday.

'course I'm not an attorney, so I don't know all the details/fine-print of it.

The polls are open for two hours after his work day. The problem is that it is a five hour drive home and a five hour drive back. He could have applied for an absentee ballot the first day he got to Corpus but he didn't know he would be staying that long.
