For those of you who don't know... a bit of a background..
My Dad had a stroke that put him in the hospital back in June. He's been in rehab and then put into a nursing home. During that time he's lost about 40 pounds, lost his ability to walk, swallow, talk legibly and most horribly, lost his caretaker and wife of 61 years, my Mom, in September.
Since then his sister gave up her life in New York and came down to take care of him. He's been taken off his food tube and has been able to eat on his own. Thanks to his incredible therapists he's gone from a wheelchair to a walker and talks better than I do! He's gained 20 pounds thanks to his sister's unbelievable cooking and care also!
My Dad at 83 now is the clearest thinking most able human being in my family!
Well, today the nursing home told us that he's fine to go home. Yes, my dear sweet Dad will be home for Thanksgiving, Christmas and forever more. I am so grateful!!
This is MY Christmas present!
