My Crazy, Psycho Neighbor

We had some gems in our last apartment.

Weight lifting @ 3AM.

Spitting on us in the above balcony.

The upstairs gal obviously had to return stuff to her EX.

She lobbed all the boxes down the 2 sets of stairs, ala "Ace Ventura" style. She tried to break everything in it. Broken shards of everything including glass were everywhere at the bottom of the stairs.

You betcha! But this time, I think he had sense enough to put on a white undershirt. Still no shoes, but hey - at least he put on a shirt! :thumbsup2

Sounds like he went formal, however I think hr forgot the tie.

I had one. He kept calling to report that I was jumping up an down on the floor trying to wake him up. The apartment manager investigated to find that I was on crutches and not moving around much at all.

They figured out he was trying to get out of his lease.

When DH and I first married back in 1984, we lived in a cute apartment in South Boston. Southie is known of not much parking. Double parking we could handle but our neighbors, not so much.

We shared a wall with neighbors but we had different landlords. We never actually saw the couple but heard them and their infant (judging by the cries). On weekends they would throw parties so loud it would sound like they were taking place in our living room.

We complained to our landlord, which is when we found out that he didn't own the other side of apartments. We called police which would stop the noise for a short amount of time. One day, DH realized we shared a common basement (according to him a dark smelly place which included a deceased cat). One night during a party, DH went to the basement and turned off their electricity. The area was known for power outages so it took the neighbors a couple of hours to figure out what happened.

We moved out after about 7 months and told the landlord why. He was sorry to see us go since we were quiet and paid on time but we couldn't take the noise.

Our apartment neighbor seems to enjoy playing techno music into the wee hours of the morning. Our bedroom shares the wall with her living room, so the bass permeates even through ear plugs. We are rarely in bed before midnight on weekdays & later than that on the weekends, so we don't think it's unreasonable that after that she turns it down.

The first few times it happened, we tried banging on the wall & front door with varying degrees of success. One night was particularly bad, DW left a 3AM message with the office. The next day, all of the doors in the breezeway had a ziplock bag with "I'm sorry" scrawled on it & cheap Christmas cookies inside (this was in March). We thought this was an 18yo kid or something, but she's a 26yo with a professional, 9-5 job (WTH?!)

That weekend, neighbor comes over to let us know she's having people over & they might be a little loud & just to let her know if it's too loud. She also added that if it's ever too loud, just let her know, no need to call the office. I told her it was no problem, we would be watching Netflix pretty late, but if it was too loud when we wanted to go to bed, we'd let them know.

Fast-forward to 3AM & I have to ask them to turn it down. The music can be heard all throughout the breezeway. Neighbor drunkenly says "Uh, is it really that loud?" Neighbor's fella-du-jour quickly pushes her out of the way & says "Hey, really sorry about that, we'll take care of it." I'm a lot more diplomatic than DW when it comes to things like people being inconsiderate, especially where sleep is involved (or deprived). I didn't mention neighbor's snotty response until the morning because DW might've murdered her at that point.

We thought that was the end of it because after that the music usually went off by midnight. Last month we came home very late (4AMish) from an out of town funeral. We were physically & emotionally exhausted. Neighbor's music was pumping, but we figured we were so tired it wouldn't even matter. By 5AM it was apparent that the music wouldn't allow us to sleep. I tried pounding on the wall a few times, to no avail. I finally started pounding on her front door, it took her a couple minutes to stumble to the door & look through the peephole. She didn't offer an apology or even have the courtesy to answer the door. She just slurred a few choice curse words & shut the music off.

DW went down to the office the following morning, stating that from this point forward, the next time neighbor's pumping the jams past midnight, we will be calling the cops directly from now on. Simple as that. There hasn't been any further issues, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Needless to say, we are counting the days until our lease is up.
