My pre easter food shopping savings.

Just came back from Shop Rite, doing my pre Easter food shopping. (All but produce) The bill was about $163, I saved about$117 in coupons and rebates. I paid $45.54, love it!

Good job!

I can never save that much with coupons. Wish I could. We don't have any stores around here that double coupons, and I think that is the key.

I did my grocery shopping tonight - bought no meats except deli cold cuts - but lots of produce (and $10 of soda - was on sale). I redeemed $10 in coupons, which I thought was pretty good.

You did a great job!

Thanks, and I did not have to climb in a dumpster or buy 10 newspapers.....or hoard condiments I don't need or use.

I can never save that much either.

However, instead of going to my local store for my meat, I have now started trying a small town meat locker. (I know the owner). So at my local big chain grocery store ground beef is 3.88lb and up and the locker is 2.99lb. Also, he is $7.00lb on Ribeye's where the local store is closer to $12.00.

Then how do you get coupons? Do you get enough in your Sunday paper to save that much? Or does it all have to do with doubling coupons?

Nice job! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I have a huge stock-up trip to make later this week (I'm moving back up to the lake Friday evening) and I can't wait to see how well I do between the coupons; CVS; Aldi's; and a few items I have coupons for at Ocean State Job Lot..

I'll have to try to remember to keep track and post the results..

Once this "big" shopping trip is over, it will just be a few things now and then - as my stock pile runs low or the coupons in combination with the sales are just too good to pass up - but heck, every penny counts - right? ;)

I get one Sunday paper and take advantage of all promotions and rebates of products we use. This was not a regular savings. I normally save about $40-$60 a week, but this week was huge savings.

great job! I saved $102.00 last week and I told everyone I saw for 2 days.

Holidays are a great time to find deals on A LOT of different things. I was able to pick up two lamb chops today for $3. Since the grocery store is stocking more of it than usual, some of it went to the clearance bin and was 50% off. Last week I picked up a spiral ham for a $1.29 a pound, sale price. Sometimes there's deal to be had, but you have to look out for them. I don't really care for meat best buy date to be the following day, it's going to be tossed in the freezer and defrosted when I'm ready to cook it.

Florida doesn't allow for coupon doubling, but Publix is pretty good about having sales for items in the coupons. They also put out a coupon booklet at the front of the store. There were times I was paying .00-.25 cents for two items between B1G1 free, manufacturer coupon, and store coupon.

I think one of my best trips, was spending $17 and saving over $30 because of store sales. I stocked up on pork lions, normally $11.99 on sale for $5.00, and a few other things like 3 for $5 cereal (normally $3-4 a box).

If there's a particular item you're wanting, like a couple weeks ago I needed a new bottle of olive oil. So I waited till one showed up in the paper for $4.99 a bottle, then checked the manufacture site and got another $1 off coupon. $4 for a bottle of olive oil is pretty darn cheap to me out here. I was happy with my deal.

It's a mix between planning and stocking up. Knowing what you need soon, and what you use a lot of when it is on sale.

Very impressed by your savings!! :thumbsup2 I have to say that I don't think that I could ever accomplish that, but know if I did I would tell everyone I know. :rotfl: I will cut coupons but obviously I am not very good at it, the most I have ever saved it about $20 and the usual is only about $7. I guess I have a lot to learn. ;)

Way to go! Feels great, doesn't it :goodvibes

Thanks, and I did not have to climb in a dumpster or buy 10 newspapers.....or hoard condiments I don't need or use.
:lmao:

I don't either...I'm on a coupon train so I have multiple coupons of things I use. I wait until items are on store sales then combine w/ coupons. Ex; texas toast croutons were on sale $1/bag, I had five 50 cents off coupons, so I got 5 bags of croutons for $2.50:thumbsup2

I am getting a new fridge so we've been eating out of the fridge and freezer this week plus i cleaned out the cabinets. After Easter, I'll do a huge stock up trip and I have gobs of coupons. Our local store doubles them so I know I'll do well.

OP, I have to say "impressive":goodvibes. I use coupons regularly but have never saved that much!! Good work:banana:

My MIL never spends her catalinas so she dropped off a TON of them to me yesterday. There were huge ones in there - $6.50 off a $15 meat purchase, one for cheese, ones for produce. I can't wait to figure out a shopping trip to use them all, she must have given me $30 in coupons that were just "for salty snacks" or "for produce" or "for meat".

Awesome job! :thumbsup2

I wasn't as successful as you were but I did manage to get $288 worth of groceries for $128. Most of the savings was with the store specials and in-ad coupons but I did save $60 in manufacturer's coupons. With what I bought, I will only need to get milk and fresh produce next week.

Like the OP, I didn't dumpster dive or buy a ton of newspapers. We get two Sunday papers. I got the extra inserts from a couple of neighbors and from my in-laws. I also printed about half of the coupons off of internet websites.

I can never save that much either.

I buy just about all of my meat at Sam's Club. The last time I got 90% ground beef, I paid under $2.00lb! We have a local chain store that has ribeye roasts on sale often. This week they're $3.99lb but I've gotten them as low as $2.99. I buy the roasts and some I cut into steaks.

I can never save much with coupons either since none of our stores (even Meijer) double them.

Great job!

I did a big stock up last week- it feels like my freezer & fridge is chock full of cheese! I saved $110 and spent $62- it was my best trip. But note- a good part of the savings was sales items- I just try to match good sales/bogos with coupons to maximize the savings.

I had to move some of my stockpile to the metal shelving units because they were too heavy for the other unit dh setup for me. But I love seeing the garage pantry full. Makes next week easier to shop right out of the garage rather than a big expense at the market when the kids are off-great for trips to the pool and playdates.

I just posted in another thread about this but Shoprite rules! (Yes, I work for them ). Once you link your Price Plus card to all the programs available, you can earn points and get coupons; Shoprite Rewards program, Baby Bucks, and Continental One Pass Miles are 3 that I participate in. I love looking at my receipts; it tells you every item that is on sale, breaks down your savings by category type, etc. I usually save upwards of $70 a week (this week was more because I got my free turkey breast).
