I have a newer computer running Windows XP. We connect to the net using a cable modem and all I do is click on Internet Explorer to start an internet session.

The problem is that a couple times a day, nasty porn ads pop up with no warning - either when I start Internet Explorer or in the middle of a session.

With two young teens in the house I've got to find a way to stop this! Anyone have any suggestions???

We had the same problem. DH says he deleted all cookies, deleted the history and then deleted internet temporary files to stop that problem.

First, like others said, delete all cookies, all offline contents...etc. They are all under TOOLs / Internet Options in IE.

Then, install Ad-aware software. It's free and get rid of all the other gators / popups / nasty stuff.

I personally don't like pop up killers, because they don't necessarily get rid of the 'roots' of the problem. Also, if you use a lot of web applications for work, popup killers may hinder their functionalities.

All these won't prevent your teenagers from surfing those sites. You may want to consider getting a blocking software.
