my computer is driving me crazy!

I posted awhile ago about how i was having this problem, but all the other computers in my house were doing the same thing..now they are all working fine and its just mine..

my internet connection will randomly cut out, and then go right back online....i had this problem before, and someone told me to do SOMETHING that fixed it and i could stay online for hours...now, it just keeps cutting me off....it doesnt do it to anyone else in my house....any idea on what to try to stop this?

What if you go back and reset your computer to a past date when your computer was working just fine.

everything was deleted because i had a bad virus on my computer a few months ago...the cmoputer guy wiped everything out and reinstalled everything back in.../

Try this:

Start, Run (type in) CMD

At the prompt (type) ipconfig /release (enter)

At the prompt (type) ipconfig /renew (enter)

Close the window.

If that works longer than before then there may be a setting I can help you with to hold the IP address longer.

Ok, a slightly longer version of the suggestion Lou posted, see if this helps.


Start, Run (type in) CMD

At the prompt (type) ipconfig /release (enter)

At the prompt (type) netsh int ip reset c:\reset.txt

At the prompt (type) ipconfig /renew (enter)

At the prompt (type) exit (enter) (this will close the window)

the netsh command will actually reset your TCP/IP settings, which is geek for set everything back to the way it was when it was installed.

Another thing to try, download Spybot from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html , install it, check for updates, and run it.

Failing all this, I may still have some of my old utility cds that might have some possible fixes I could help you out with.
