i get lots of coke rewards points because my mother in law collects them at her work so what i was thinking for some people is i would use the rewards to get them a magazine subscription (they have tons available on the website) and make kind of like a gift basket to go with the mag. like for instance if i got someone a sub to seventeen i might put lip gloss, make up, etc in the basket? does this make sense? (i would buy one copy of the magazine in the store to put in the baskets). i was hoping for ideas. i'm looking for things i can pick up (hopefully while on sale or with coupons) a little at a time before Christmas is here so i need to get my lists together pretty soon. i know one person that i want to get the bon appetite mag for but im clueless as to what to put in the basket...the only thing that comes to mind is wine and wine glasses but neither us or the recipient drinks :rotfl: also im stuck on trying to make a golf one.

ones i know that i want to use are:
Seventeen
Ready Made
Home and Garden
Bon Appetite
Golf Digest
Glamour
Esquire?
Cookie
Popular Mechanics
...i know there was more...

so any ideas are appreciated! (or if you have a better thought than a "basket" like something to put the mag and things in that goes WITH the theme then that would be great)!

Sorry, I don't know the first thing about golf, either, but for Bon Appetite I'd get a $1 bread basket, line it with a red and white check napkin or bandana like the tablecloths at Italian restaurants, put in a bag of fancy pasta (like you'd find at a Marshall's or TJ Maxx), maybe some cocktail crackers or breadsticks, and a sprig of rosemary? Any of those discount stores have tons of fancy ingredients for cheap, I get my DF a bunch of marzipan there every year for $2 a big box.

Good luck! I think your idea sounds terrific!

THANK YOU!!! that is awesome!!! :flower3:

I would suggest combining what you get from mycokerewards with stuff you can get cheaply or free (after ECBs or RR) from CVS and/or Walgreens as well as samples you can get from looking on the freebie thread each week. Cheap and free make great presents!!!:thumbsup2

For the golf basket you can get a golf towel, bag of tees and a sleeve of golf balls at Walmart.

For Bon Appetite you could get a spaghetti fork, measurer, different brands of pasta, bottles of olive oil and spaghetti sauce, also at Walmart.

Home and Garden you could do some seed packets, garden gloves, candles, bath salts, and lotion.

Ready Made could be done with craft items.

Popular Mechanics could be done with a screwdriver set, flashlight, hammer, etc.

How about taking a recipe from the Bon Appetit that you put in the basket and getting all the non-perishable ingredients to make it with? Then you could even put in a grocery store gift card for the remaining items if they aren't too much.

for the mechanic one, I would steer away from tools, most guys are very brand loyal. I would suggest hand cleaner, blue shop towelsl, those red rags, duct tape and zip straps. (as a joke duct tape cuz duct tape fixes everything.........LOL)

home and garden, maybe a recipe box, and some "organic" cleaning products.

Do you have a TJ Maxx near you?

If yes, they have great little Golf gadgets in the men's department. Nows the time to buy these things as they are on clearance. Extra golf balls are always good. A nice chamois cloth to clean the balls (or wipe the sweat from his head) would probably go over well.

For Popular Mechanics a few different tools and a pair of work gloves would be good. The day after Thanksgiving Sears always has a good sale on Craftsman tools, screwdrivers, etc. for cheap, cheap.
