As I mentioned, I played at the British Schools Tournament Megafinal in Basildon on Sunday. I got 2/6 points, and sadly I didn't qualify for the next round. If I had gotten 2 more points (By beating 2 more people) I would of qualified, and 1/2 a point more I would of gotten a ribbon.. (to be fair though, 1 of my 2 points I didn't have to play anyone to get. :teeth: )

Oh well.. I would say "There is always next year", but I was so bored at that I don't think I will bother next year... ;) So I guess there won't be a next year, but I will let you know how I get on in the in-school tourney.

Out of the 4 people who went from our school (which is very disapointed since 14 people qualified) only 1; him being my friend, got the 4 points needed to get to the gigafinal. He is now bragging to everyone he knows; kinda sad but I feel good for him.

2/6 ain't bad... ;)

Well done Matt, you got 2 more points than I would have got, not even sure how to play chess, so well done :thumbsup2

Well done Matt, sorry that you didn't make it to the next round, but you did really well anyway :)

Well done Matt :thumbsup2

It's nice to see that chess is still played in schools, and even more impressive that it's still played at secondary level. :)

I was in the chess club whilst I was in primary school and took part in several county competitions - even coming second once which made me very proud at the time. I was always beaten by the same guy though who was our headmasters son and has now gone on to become a grandmaster. He was pretty good if I remember correctly ;)

Sounds like you did good to me :thumbsup2

Well Done to get there Matt :thumbsup2

Well done.

DS used to play chess at County level when he was at school and now he is a Maths teacher, runs a chess club himself.

Well done Matt.

As Alan mentioned it is nice to see that Chess is still be played in schools. I started playing Chess when I was in primary school. Unfortunately, I now have to play the electronic version as no one I know can play.

Well done, Matt. Good luck with the in school tournament.
