My Cathartic Statement.

I just read through all the docs they left for us. My dd9 was intent on putting together a scrapbook and she saved everything. There was a grand toal of three illness related memos.

The 24 hour hotline was not updated daily. My wife called it 4PM thursday and it was still Wednesday's message. After that we didn't call again.

I've been following these posts about the virus for a week now and it seemed to me that DCL was handling the situation fairly well. However, after hearing about my DS's teacher's cruise this past week, I think DCL handled the situation superbly. Like KSISTERSMOM, she went on the Carnival cruise and got stranded 3 days into the cruise. For two days there were without water and ice and were not allowed to shower. Finally everyone in the boat was dumped at an airport in Mexico and flown home a day late. For all of this they received a whopping 25% off a future cruise. Apparantly Carnival is doing a great job of keeping the press out of this one. I found it hard to find any news about it. Here is a link:

Apparantly I don't know how to creat a link but you can cut and paste to get to the article.

No, I am not asking you to pat Disney on the back for not running their boat aground. I'm asking you to look at the way Disney and the media handled their situation and the way other cruise lines are handled. One boat had 4 voyages with the virus and no one really heard too much about it until the boat was pulled to be cleaned. Carnival runs a boat aground and hardly anyone knows about it. As soon as Disney has the first report of the virus it is all over the news.

Literally translated "The Horse Dead'

I have read this complete thread and am completely exhausted, but have a few comments.

There are some things in life that are so personal and emotional that we each have are own unique view about them and are very passionate about our view.

Pediatricians, Church, Babysitters to name a few. I may hate a church and you love it all at the same time. Same church, same service but totaly different needs and view points.

I also read a thread by Disney Darwin who raved about the cruise the entire time he was on the ship.

I will not make a judgement about DCL until I experience it for myself in January. I do however appreciate all the infromation given on thes boards both pro and con. I however would appreciate it if the personal attacks were done by PM or just not at all.

I have paid probably to much for my upcoming cruise. We all have paid to much for these vacations. There are people in this world who would just like clean water or a bowl of rice for supper. Norwalk Virus is a walk in the park compared to some of the crap members of our society deal with daily.

Is Disney good or bad? Was the service on the 11-23 cruise good or bad? It was probably both, to different people at different times.

I am just glad that nobody flew any planes into the ship, or wallked aboard with sticks of dynamite strapped to their bodies. Last time I checked everyone came home alive. The worst thing that happened is that some people had a terrible vacation. My heart goes out to those of you who had a terrible time. I am just thankful that you had a vacation because that means you are not homeless, dead or alot of other bad things.

Anyway, I think that maybe we have beat this dead horse enough.......

mureste --

So well put, thanks.

We were on that cruise, had a fabulous time, thought DCL did its best, and would go again in 1/2 a heartbeat. For someone who did not get sick, it was a nuisance at worst.

That's what I love about these boards, it never ceases to amaze me that there is always something new to learn. I've always avoided disucssing politics, religion or sports in public venues because of the potential controversy these topics present. But, I never, NEVER, would have thought that discussing babysitters was such a personal issue. You live and learn :p
