What a sad thing to have to endure anytime, much less in the middle of a vacation like that. . and then losing your DH's grandmother right on top it no matter how expected had to be a bit overwhelming. .

My sympathies on the passing of you DH's grandma and your beloved kitty. My kitty is 16 too and not doing so well and my fear is he will not live to see us return from Italy.

Jx3smom, this same thing happened to me. On Oct. 25, 1999 we were in WDW, celebrating my dd's 6th b-day. Got a call from home from my hysterical 22 y/o dd. Seems my 14 y/o cat was having some kind of seizure. Then my son called and left a messege to not worry. That my dh, son's step-father, was coming home from work to take cat to the vet. But he was worried that my dh would be upset that dd had callled us while on vacation about the cat. When he called the next day to say hi, I had to tell him that I know about the cat. He had to put the cat down the night before. What a way to celebrate a b-day. Now, every time I walk thru POR's AB section I remember talking to God about taking care of my poor furbaby. I am so sorry for your losses. Now, I'm leaving so I can wipe my eyes and blow my nose.

It's hard when we get so attached to them. I always worry about my poodle when we go away. She's 12 now.

I am so sorry about your cat.. As they age they just become closer and more precious to you. I was heartbroken when I lost my 17yo cat.

So sorry about Grandma, also. I hope your DH finds solace in the fact that she is fine, now.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

I think that's one of my biggest fears about going on vacation, that something will happen to a pet or family member while we are away. I'm so sorry for both of your losses.
