My cat Blackie's tale ...

Happy Anniversary to Blackie.
Loved. loved. loved your story. :goodvibes

We have been feeding a cat that comes to the house several times a day. We already have 3 cats but I think we will be "adopting" another one soon. We feel so bad for Lilo
( yes we have named her)

I'm so proud to have you as a cousin Laura, you are truly a great person and Blackie is lucky to have you as well.

So weird! When I got to the shelter last night, we had a new black kitten named Blackie. :)

Once you named her - you claimed her :)

As soon as Blackie went from being "that little black kitten" to "Blackie", I knew I would be taking him in!

Thanks :)

Maybe we should have a cousin's cat playdate? How do you think your Peanut would feel about playing with Mackey and Blackie :confused3

I predict disaster :lmao:

He is so cute......I love that last photo.
DD14 found a couple of Mommaless kittens almost 2 months ago, they were about 4 weeks old. ... Her brother, Tigger, is doing extremely well tho!! he's a happy, healthy, kitten who gives us tons of loves and eats like crazy. :) I hope to post an update in 2 years that's just like yours! :)

Blackie will send some kitty pixie dust your way - Let's Go Tigger ;)

I think it is a sign for you to bring that Blackie home :goodvibes

Another cat lover here. :thumbsup2 Blackie is so cute. Looks a lot like my oldest DD's cat, Junior.

I thank everyone who gives a home to a homeless cat. I have had many ferel cat come by and I feed them. Some will really not let me pet them and keep a distance, I have use a have a heart trap to have them neutered. During the winter I make out door homes for them. I ordered Omaha Steakes and the come in a container which makes a nice condo for a cat. I add carpet and extra covering. On the Omaha box they have instructions for recycleing the container and one is to make a home for out door cats during the winter time. I understand if you can touch a feral cat when it a kitten they will be more willing to come incide the home. Some of my out door cat seem to have somewhere to go, perhaps a barn or something. They look good and a nice and fat but keep a distance from humans. I picked Blackie up when he was a kitten, his brothers and sister keep the distance. After many yrs. I was able to gain the trust of the mother and we became close friends.

I am pretty sure that is going to happen with Lilo. She will let you pick her up. She must have been dumped because when she first started coming around her fur was very white. It isn't that way now.

We fed another cat a few years ago. We named him Rex. He would come to the door, we would let him in. He would eat, take a nap, and then go to the door he wanted out. One day he never came back. We don't want that to happen to Lilo.

That is great - Blackie was untouchable for about the first three months. Even now, after two years, he won't let anybody but me touch him. Sounds like you are already ahead of the game with Lilo. Good luck :thumbsup2

Blackie looks so good in the pictures he has a air of confidence. Your taking good care of her/.

That is a great idea - it is wonderful that you do this for the cats in your area :thumbsup2

Our Twiggy was similar to your Blackie. She was a feral that had 5 babies. They were all trapped near my DH's office. They found the babies homes, and we decided to foster. It took some time, but she has finally settled in and we have adopted her. She is a surrogate mom to Willow.

That's a great story :)

It did take my Mackey a while to warm up to Blackie. But he was almost 14 and an an only child when I sprung Blackie on him. I'm surprised he tolerates him as much as he does ;)

It's going to be very cold here in Orlando tonight. They have been urging everyone to bring their pets inside tonight. Lilo paid a visit this afternoon which she never does. I brought her in because I could stand the thought of her out in the cold weather. She is very skinny.

So far it is going well. Our 3 cats aren't bothered by Lilo in the garage. I hope it keeps going this way.

I'm so glad that Lilo will be warm tonight

Wonderful story, beautiful cat and you are a very special person to take Blackie into your heart and home. :goodvibes

Bad news!!!

We took Lilo to the vet today to get her fixed. It turns out she has feline aids and was pregnant. We had to put her to sleep. I guess she was dumped in our neighborhood because of this.

She was such a beautiful, mild mannered cat. I will pick up her remains for burial later.

What a truly fantastic story!

Our kitty of 5 years (Snowie, or just kitty) was an outdoor "feral" cat. She would come to our house everyday for food and to hang out in the pool cage (sunning, I assume). She would always let us pet her, but never pick her up and she wouldn't come in the house. Finally, one signifcantly cold day (for Florida) she took us up on the offer to come on inside. She has been there ever since. She is the sweetest kitty and enjoys playing with our puppy and snuggling with our older dog! We love her and I am SO happy she found us!

Now, we have a "feral" cat outside our house that we have recently named Stripes! She is so pretty and has gotten fairly fat from our offerings! We also put a BIG box with a blankie in it outside for her and I have a sneaking suspicion that we might have a new INSIDE kitty friend VERY soon! I have already used a have a heart trap to have her spayed and shots, so nothing more needed for her to have a forever home!
