My tale - by Blackie

Two years ago, I was a scared little kittycat who lived outside. I was five months old and had no family. I lived under a nice lady's deck - she gave me food everyday, but I would run when she came out. Here I am sunning myself on her deck:

One day, the food was in a funny contraption. I was hungry and walked in - next thing I know, I was trapped  :

The lady took me to the doctor, and then brought me home and put me in a cage:

I'm told that I was feral. They claim that I bit, scratched, and hissed. I heard the words "tetanus shot needed" at one point. The lady's friends and family called her crazy and told her to put me back outside. I'm glad she didn't - it was cold out there. :sad2:

A few months later I decided I didn't want to be bad anymore.

Today is two years from the day that I got caught in the trap. Now I have a brother to play with:

and toys to play with:

and lots of places to hang out and nap:

That's my tale - gotta go now, Mom says I can have tuna for dinner since it is my special day :)

Love,
Blackie

I'm so glad that your Mommy adopted you, Blackie! I'm actually about to head out right now to the animal shelter where I help to take care of all the kitties there that need homes.

Awwww you just totally made me tear up! :) I remember when you found Blackie, when you'd update us on how he was doing. I'm so glad you took him in and he found his forever family with you. :) Thanks for the 2 year update...I can't believe it's been 2 years. :)

Just too sweet! I got my kitty pretty much the same way. He's almost 18 now and with a set of pipes you would not believe :cat:

Aw, that's really nice. Blackie is a beauty (and a lucky kitty too).

What a tale - I LOVE it!!!!!!! :cloud9:

Blackie you are one very fortunate, and adorable, little kitty! :thumbsup2

My Blackie says hello to your Blackie. I have a similar story, boy are we lucky cats. I have a sister too.

Blackie, you are a very lucky kitty! And so cute, too! :goodvibes

Such a sweet story...Blackie you are a very lucky kitty to have such a loving mom, brother, and lots of toys.

I was just recently re-reading some of my older threads about Blackie - he certainly has come a long way in the last two years :)

that's exactly how I ended up with my Cinder(ella)..she was outside, just a few months old, no family..she would come to me everyday looking for food..she got a little friendlier all the time..come winter time..I would find her curled up on the afghan I left on the porch swing...then in a big box with a blanket...gradually I coaxed her inside (much to the dismay of my other 2 cats..one who was with me from 6 weeks old..the other was a stray who wandered into my yard in the winter and made herself right at home..both of them passed away within a month of each other earlier this year)..Cinder is now a totally happy indoor cat..but to her dismay..there are 3 maybe 5 month old kittens , strays, now without a mommy , who rely on me to feed them every day..and are gradually getting used to letting me pet them , and they all meow and purr for me..as soon as I can get them close enough ..they are going to the vet for checkups and neutering, and Cinder will have 2 little sisters and a brother!..
Thank you for having a heart and taking in your furbaby..if not for people like you and me and the other DIS'ers who have done the same..these poor babies would be out in the cold and not have a long or happy life!

Aww Blackie you're a cutie :goodvibes What a wonderful story and you are so lucky to have a sweet & caring Momma!

I LOVE Blackie's tale! I had to bring my kitty-loving daughters over to read this, too. The pictures are so precious. Bless you and your big heart.

We adopted our 1 1/2 year old cat, Sunny from the SPCA last May and she brings us so much joy!

Such a sweet story. I have a Blackie too, but she's a girl. Now she is our official crabby old lady at 14. She was the only one of our 7 that was actually picked. All of her brothers and sisters were strays or adopted through rescue groups. We have Angel, Tinker(Boo), Miss Priss, Simba, Twiggy and our newest baby, Willow.

Today was my day to volunteer at our local PetSmart in their adoption center. There was one little guy named Rusty who is going to make some family a great pet. While he was out with the others from his cage, he came and just loved all over me. He got in my face and gave me sugar, and when I held him to my shoulder, he practically gave me a hug. He pulled himself closer and just nuzzled into my neck and purred.

Our Twiggy was similar to your Blackie. She was a feral that had 5 babies. They were all trapped near my DH's office. They found the babies homes, and we decided to foster. It took some time, but she has finally settled in and we have adopted her. She is a surrogate mom to Willow.

Blackie would like to personally thank everybody for their kind words and well wishes on his special day. (So would his mom ;) ).

He'd do it himself, but he's just so tuckered out from a long day of celebrating:

He is so cute......I love that last photo.
DD14 found a couple of Mommaless kittens almost 2 months ago, they were about 4 weeks old. Unfortunately the little black one (we called her Ninja) didn't make it, we lost her just a couple days after we found her. Her brother, Tigger, is doing extremely well tho!! he's a happy, healthy, kitten who gives us tons of loves and eats like crazy. :) I hope to post an update in 2 years that's just like yours! :)

What a great story. It gave me goosebumps. Thank you for giving blackie a home.
