My Canadian experience?

I will be vacationing in Montreal and Quebec City the last week in September. Although the trip is a tour and the sights have been pre planned I would love some pointers on what to ware and what to bring. What foods should I try and anything else you think I might find interesting.

Just to name a few sights, we will be visiting St Joseph’s and Ste Anne de Beaupre Shrines and the falls at Montmorency. We will be having tea at Chateau Frontenac. We will also be visiting the Casino and the Olympic stadium.

I have never been to Canada and I am truly looking forward to it.

The weather in late September can be quite cool so you should plan on jackets and long sleeves. I am not sure how much free time you will have on your tour. The places you mentioned that you will be visiting are quite spaced out from each other. I love old Quebec City. That is where the Chateau is. It is a great place to just walk around. We usually go for crepes in Quebec city. There are a number of places that serve crepes and they are all delicious. The places you are visiting in Montreal are spaced out and do not have a lot of other things in close walking distance so I am not sure if you will be able to get to many things on your own.
I hope you have a great time on your trip.

I LOVE Quebec! I think it is one of the most beautiful places on earth!

I love the architecture, the people, the culture. It is a beautiful province. You'll love it.

Here's some tips:

- If you don't speak french, bring along a pocket phrase book. MOST people speak both french and english....but you may run in to someone who doesn't!

- Bring money!!! It only costs you about 63 cents to buy a Canadian dollar....so shop till you drop!!!! (make sure you buy some maple syrup to take home)

- Bring your appetite!!!! There are incredible restaurants and food......mmmmmm desserts!! yum yum!

Check some of these sites to whet your appetite:

Thank you both so much for your responses.

I checked out the recommended sites. The pictures are wonderful. I am getting even more excited.

I am thinking I may be there at leaf changing time. At least I hope I will be.

I really hope that you will have time to visit the Laurentians, or the Eastern Townships while you are in Montreal. They are both great places when the leaves change. Also, you should make sure you are prepared for cool weather and/or hot weather. We have had some very hot September's and some very cool September's. While in Montreal, for night life you should definately check out Crescent street. You should also, take a visit to old Montreal and the Old Port. Hope you have a wonderful visit in Montreal and Quebec City, and don't worry about the French, even though Quebec has a bad rap for the language issue, you will most definately be able to find English speaking people.

Hi I hope that you heve a great time. Be sure to exchange your money at a bank on arrival. You get a much better rate. Have fun.E
