My camera is in limbo. A small vent.

Background: I have a Sony Alpha 300. I love this camera and have been using it quite often. A couple of weeks ago I noticed the LCD screen was broken, fortunately the one time an extended warranty turned out to be a good thing. I had it at Best Buy the next day to be repaired. It was shipped back to the store by UPS on wednesday overnight express so it should have been at the store by today. The store doesn't have it. The tracking number has a label created and no more info. UPS can't tell me anything more than it should have been shipped and received. Because it is going into the weekend they may not be able to do anything until monday.

I am a little upset right now. I needed the camera back today as they guaranteed. Now they can only tell me that if they can't find it I'll get a comparable camera. I'm not even sure what that would be. I knew that people here would understand my feelings better than my friend who said, "It's just a camera!" Thanks for letting me vent. I am off to find a new body today. I wanted a second anyway.

I went to a reputable dealer and have a new camera. I picked up an Alpha 550 for a really good price. I know it's a dated model but for now help me learn more. The 300 is still in limbo. :headache:

I feel your pain. I've been lucky and never had to send one of my DSLR's in for service. Now let me go knock on some wood.

Best Buy did something similar with my laser disc/DVD player (yes, it actually plays both!) years ago. And my sister had a returned DSLR sold to her as new from a Best Buy. Consequently I will not make a major electronics purchase from them anymore. They're as bad as Walmart about putting returns back on the sales floor as new merchandise without checking them out.

i understand you real well i had those bad stuff in the past with a very expensive camera and i feel now after all of those scary for damage or like that

My camera may have been found. :yay: I will know for sure on monday. I would love to know what next day air means however. According to the UPS website it sat in El Paso for a day and a half and was checked in and out twice. It then went to Louisville and Kansas City before finally making it to Philly. It was checked in there this morning but won't be delivered until Monday. I want some answers from somebody. I just hope it arrives in one piece and is actually my camera.

Good news but I understand the frustration. In Jan I ordered a lens and some misc items from B&H and paid for second day shipping so I'd have it before I went on a trip. It shipped in two packages. I then watched the tracking as the package made it from NY to Oakland, then was sent to Kansas City etc. etc. Then the second package started making some diversions as well. Needless to say - I did not have it at the time I wanted. In my case at least B&H filed a complaint with UPS and then reimbursed me for the shipping.

On the other hand you got a very nice backup with the A550!

Best Buy already knows how frustrated I am with the service. I have been dealing with the Geek Squad supervisor. I just want to know how next day air became a day in holding and a day traveling the country.

I think once I get used to the 550 the 300 will become the back-up. It is a better camera from the reviews but configured a little differently. I'm glad I could vent a little here because at least people understand. My BFF still doesn't get it.

I think you will really enjoy the A550. I have a a500 and my a300 is the backup. The 550 is so much faster and you will learn it quick. :thumbsup2 I hope you get your camera back on Monday!

The camera arrived back into my eager hands safe and sound. I am use to it so for the moment will be my camera of choice. I don't think Best Buy will be my camera store unless I want a cheap P&S to keep in the car.
