My California Grill reservation was cancelled.

Has anyone else had this happen? We waited for EVER......to get that California Grill reservation. Then about two weeks ago someone called from disney dining and said that they had to change it because it was closed that night. Tuesday, December 3rd. I'd love to know what really is going on....

They said they didn't know but that they had to cancel.....well, they didn't have another night that was good for us...so that was that. As it is, we went for Norcosse but can't get in until 8:55 and having started out the day at 3:30 in the morning.....I'm not sure how much we will enjoy that one.

How would I know what is really going on? Or do they randomly close for an evening here and there after people have made reservations?

I have gotten phone calls from two restaurants for our trip this week. The Garden View Tea room was closing early for overflow Thanksgiving diners from Grand Floridian Café. We rearranged our reservations and got a late dinner at 50's Prime time who called on Sunday to tell me they booked past park close by accident and I needed to choose a new time. All the people I spoke to were very nice and accommodating but it really is a pain....add in needing to change Fast Pass+ and it is crazy.

A few years ago we an ADR for House of Blues with tickets to walk across the street to watch Cirque du Soleil immediately afterwards. When we showed up for our House of Blues ADR, we were told they had canceled all the ADRs, due to a private party at HoB that night and Disney should have called us. Nope, we didn't even get a phone call and had to scramble to find something to eat quick. Thankfully WGP accepted us as walkups and got us in quickly.

Yes, it does happen. Most likely because the restaurant is going to be used for a private function that night. Have seen it several times.
