I will start by saying that Dh doesn't even really love Disney like I do. And, no matter how you add up the numbers, DVC costs money, especially for a family who doesn't, until now, expect to travel to Disney every year. With that said, I am grateful that I have a Dh who sees the happiness I get out of WDW and is willing to do this for me.

My husband is cautious and needs deadlines to make decisions. We received our DVC information in the mail last Tuesday. I knew that if I didn’t tell my Dh that we only had until this Friday to decide he would never commit (.You can imagine how patient I was waiting for a marriage proposal. :rotfl2: ) Lo and behold, today he signed everything and it is hopefully being sorted by FedEx right now! :cheer2:

Anyway, this is our buying experience.
Friday, Feb 17: put $500 deposit down
Tues, Feb 21: received FedEx box of goodies
Wed, Feb 22: booked trip for April 3-7 in a studio. I had the options of SSR, OKW or VWL.
Fri, Feb 24: Told Dh that he had only until the following Fri to decide
Fri, March 3: Sent paperwork back

Although resale seemed appealing, I am impatient and liked being in the Disney system so early. I knew that we wanted SSR because I am young(ish) at 30 ;) .

I am very excited, so please welcome me home

Welcome to the Neighborhood !

I hope you and your family have many happy and delightful trips to WDW !

Thank you all very much! I especially like the flashy Welcome Home signs. Ah, :cloud9: , it feels so good to feel special.

You sound like us...my DH likes Disney, but he doesn't love it like me and the kids do. I want to arrange a World Passport Collection trip that's more up his alley sometime in the near future, just to keep things fair. ;)

Congratulations on your purchase!!!

Congratulations & Welcome Home!!!

HAPPY "MAGICAL" VACATIONING,

Hi, one of the selling points for my Dh was that I already knew of a great company to resell our DVC if need be! :sunny: . I am hoping for the full 47 years :rolleyes1 , but you never know.

This might not be the perfect moment to remind your DH that he only has 15 days from signing the papers to rescind...so I'll just wish you

Welcome Home!

Welcome home! I, too, had a Disney-tolerant DH. He liked it, but didn't LOVE it. Now that he's an owner, though, boy has he changed! This year, for the first time, he bought an Annual Pass and I've been teasing him, "I never thought I'd live to see the day YOU had an AP at Disney!" So there's hope yet! You're going to have many enjoyable years.

My dh wasn't as thrilled about DVC as I was-so I figured I would go occasionally solo and not bug him. Well, just made ressies for a May trip - solo - DH finds out and now he's coming too! Claims I'd be 'misreable' alone in WDW, he needs to go along, blah blah, blah. Tonight he comes home from works and asks me to make ressies at some of his favorite restaurants! THIS was the man who swore buying into DVC was a waste of money!!

Congratulations! We were the opposite, DH was the "let's do it" one and I was more unsure. As it is with most purchases in our marriage, LOL. He was so right about DVC though, I wish we had done it sooner!

:welcome: to the neighborhood!!! You're going to love it here!!! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, when I brought DH to WDW for the first time in 2000, he LOVED it. We had to buy extra luggage for all the stuff that HE bought. I just can't believe it took us until 2003 to buy into DVC!!! :rotfl2:

...SSR resort this month. Our year starts in September. Do we have points from now until September or do we have to wait to use them?

Also, we saw someone received some "free" points on a recent post. How many free points were offered?

Thanks

Are you going to hang it on the wall next year?? :rotfl2:

You should have your 05 points and you will get your 06 points in Sept. The points from 05 are "free" because you don't pay any maintance fees on them.
