My daughter is reading much much better
She actually is starting to like to read. She is 10 and in 4th grade and I guess from moving to Va from Alaska she was behind in school and was actually held back in 2nd grade and still struggled.
I felt so bad becasue I know how hard she was trying. SO even though she still has a long way to go it is nice to hear I can't stop reading this book

I've also made sure to tell her that I know it's sometimes outside her ability to control her reactions and that I love her and am proud of her regardless of how she's dealing with things. I love her no matter whether it's a good day or a bad day.
We were like, huh? Now in his sophomore year in HS, he is running a 6 minute mile and in addition to cross country and track, he runs 1/2 marathons.
He is in 8th grade and some strange alien has taken him over that does his homework the MINUTE he gets home from school. He was even mad one time because he had a doctor's appointment right after school, which means he couldn't get his homework done. I have NO IDEA where this motivation came from because it certainly wasn't there before. I think he got tired of being in the middle of watching a show & getting called down to do his homework.
for things -- such as trying out for the play in 6th grade -- I knew he would get a part because everyone does but he ended up getting a BIG part. I was cringing when it was showtime because I had no idea what he was going to do (he's been known to have major out of proportions meltdowns on the spot if something doesn't go "just right" and with acting, that happens & you have to go with the flow) but he surprised me and he enjoyed it. He even tried out again in 7th grade & this was a MUSICAL!! Not sure if he is going to do it again this year or not.
