After researching MANY menus and having quite a few conversations, my husband and I decided to dine at Todd English's Blue Zoo restaurant for our "adult night out". This restaurant is located in the Dolphin Resort near Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
The atmosphere was calm and relaxing which was exactly what we were hoping for!! We were celebrating our Anniversary as well as my birthday and just wanted to enjoy some quiet time together...we all know those moments are few and far between while in Walt Disney World with your family!
The restaurant was not busy on this particular evening (we had early dinner reservations) so we were seated immediately. This was great for us because we were both very hungry and we also had our 2 boys in "Camp Dolphin" which is the evening kid's club at the Dolphin Resort. We were seated in a nice quiet corner round booth which was perfect!
Our server came over promptly and we ordered drinks and appetizers immediately. My husband ordered 6 Daily Harvest Oysters ($2.75 a piece) and I ordered a Hearts of Romaine salad ($11). Upon returning with our drinks our server also brought a wonderful basket of mixed breads with the most amazing butter seasoned with FENNEL.
My husband loved the oysters and wished he had ordered more and my salad was very tasty as well. The dressing was not heavy which was nice.
For dinner my husband ordered Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass which was served with warm sesame spinach and pea tendril salad ($35) and I ordered Flame grilled tenderloin of beef filet served with herb silky potato (I substituted this instead of horseradish fingerling potatoes which was not a problem) and charred frisée salad, balsamic veal jus ($38). The presentation was beautiful but nothing compared to the taste! We both took our first bite and raved about how good it was! My husband is a huge seafood fan and I am a huge filet fan! With each and EVERY bite we both agreed that this was BY FAR the best meal we had ever had. His fish was amazing and my filet was not only cooked to perfection but the balsamic veal jus exploded with every bite. I think my husband quietly wished that he had also ordered the filet because it was out of this world!
We had no room for dessert but ordered coffee and an after dinner drink. Our waitress surprised us with a complimentary Happy Anniversary dessert. I must have mentioned something to the hostess when being seated but we did not say anything to the waitress....a very nice surprise and perfect ending to our fabulous dinner.
We could not have been happier with our dining experience at Blue Zoo. I have not stopped raving about it since and can not wait to return. This will be a MUST DO for my husband and I each time we return to Walt Disney World. Another great thing about dining here (or the other 2 signature restaurants at the Dolphin) is if you bring your dinner receipt to Camp Dolphin when picking up your children, you will receive 2 free hours of child care for each adult entree' you purchased! Camp Dolphin usually costs $10 per hour, per child (this includes dinner) but with the 2 hours free we ended up paying $20 for 3 hours plus tip. Yet another wonderful feature to our amazing night!
