Kathryn said she'd let me tell the story about the birthday so here it is ---
We did two character buffets that day -- Donald's at AK and Chef Mickey's before the Contemporary meet. We also had a megatrade earlier that day that I'll tell about later. The Contemporary meet is a definite must-do for any trader. Kathryn does a fantastic job with the meet, keeping it a friendly gathering for experienced traders and newbies. There were definitely 100+ people there (a slow night?), including Kathryn, Raul and Donna, Lauree and the kids, pin addict, Brer Frog and Really Goofy Mom, supertrader Mike, and a number of people I'm sure I'm forgetting. I even saw some people Lauri and I met during the week and told about the meet.
Kathryn received some pins sent to her by a friend from CA who enjoyed the Contemp meet, including a really cute DL Happy Holidays Lady and the Tramp I showed to Lauri. One "OOOOOOHHH HOW CUTE!!" and 30 minutes later, she had traded for the pin.
At one point Lauri had a little girl sitting in her lap and I asked her what she had to trade for the little girl. If I'd thought about it, I'd have said that in my best John Belushi Blues Brothers "How much for the leetle girl" voice.
The meet started breaking up around 11 -- one of the monorail trains on the express line decided to park right at the exit, piercing the air curtain and sending a nice cold draft down on us. We decided to migrate down to the food court to wind down a bit and get some hot chocolate.
While we're sitting there, I hear the familiar strains of "Happy Birthday" from behind me. I turn and see Raul and the kids coming to the table, singing and Raul carrying a cake. Raul sets it in front of me and I see it's decorated with a goose (I guess they couldn't find a Donald anywhere) and --- a Continuing the Traditions pin!!! Hey, how many other people can say they received their CTT from a cake-carrying Raul?
Thanks, everyone!! You don't know how much I appreciate your making a great birthday even better!!
