Okay, here we go with my first ever trip report. Hopefully this little trip will be good practice for the big one to WDW in January.Let's start with a little background info. Anyone that knows me understands my addiction to all things Disney, so with my birthday coming up I knew where I wanted to be. My first hurdle was pursuading my DH this was a good idea. I had already had a week in Tenerife this summer with my DD and he had not. He was not going to see this as the summer holiday he craved (beach, bar and sun).
Then I had a brainwave. We actually have 3 children; DD5, DS3, and DS7months. If I could get rid of the kids this was going to be a much more attractive proposition. A call to the in-laws was made and we were systems go! This is how I presented the sales pitch:
-Sweetheart, do you know what I'd really like to do more than anything for my birthday? Go to Disneyland Paris!
-Oh no! I hate it there (he has been spoilt by a previous trip to WDW) I thought we didn't have any money and we were saving it for January. Why do we need to go now when we're going then anyway?
-How about if we go just you and me, no kids? We could actually go on the roller coasters together, without any baby- swaps. Please, I'm not pregnant for a change so I'd have loads of energy!
-(he looks thoughtful) You'll have to ask my parents because I'm not doing it...can we afford it?
-Don't worry, I'll look into it (not knowing I already had)
-Alright then but I will not go on that Its a Small World.. I hate that ride
-OK then (YEAH! RIGHT!)

The web was surfed, the DIS boards read, until I finally came across a good deal. One night for 2 adults B&B at the Val d'europe with park tickets incl. for £216.00. I couldn't stay onsite because I only had 1 night and they require a 2 night minimum. With the time available to us, flying was a better option as we live 10 minutes from Luton airport. Easyjet flights were promptly booked.
Final itinerary:
Fri 20th aug. drop off kids
Sat 21st aug flight at 9:40am
arrive CDG 11:55am
VEA shuttle 12:25pm
Disney village 1:20pm
1 stop on train to hotel
check-in and hop on hotel shuttle back to park
8pm:PS at Blue Lagoon
10:30pm: Fantillusion parade
11:15pm: fireworks

Sun 22nd aug MY BIRTHDAY!!
8:45:be at park for rope-drop
12:30pm:PS at Lucky Nugget Saloon
6:30pm: get shuttle to hotel for bag pick-up
7:20pm:VEA from Newport Bay Club to CDG
10:05pm: flight home!

Come 11pm on Fri. 20th, we were tucked up in bed with the alarm set for 6:45 am. The children had gone to their lodgings for the weekend and I had already had a couple of drinks out to get me in the mood for the weekend ie. completely relaxed and feeling 10 years younger than I was about to be.

I'll be back tomorrow with the next part and if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask,
Claire

Great start Claire! Wow, DLP without the kids! Wish I could swing that, lucky you.
