Is anyone else going to be watching this tonight? I am, but I dont know how it will compare to the movie, which I watched going up to Quebec, and loved. I know they changed the names, (now they are Nia and Thomas), and Thomas (Ian), is being played be a new person, but other than that I didnt notice any differances from the movie.

Thanks for the heads up! I want to see this show.

I am, now that you reminded me it's on tonight!

There are so many great actors in this show. If the writers do a decent job, it's gotta be a hit.

herc.

I was disappointed with it. And I really wanted to like the show, but it just lacked something.

I was somewhat disappointed with it too. We had seen "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" on our cruise so I was really looking forward to seeing the TV show. I think they showed clips of the show too often, advertising it, because I sure didn't laugh much during the show. I don't plan to watch it again.

I also liked the movie but was disappointed in the show. Even though I love "Everybody Loves Raymond" -- I think this show is too much like Raymond but not as funny (Italian family vs Greek family).

I may give it another week (unless something better is on) ... sometimes it takes a couple of episodes for things to settle in.

I did really, really like the Aunt ... I think she was the funnest person on the show.

Honestly, they should have just stuck with the movie. Trying to turn it into a TV show was just ridiculous. I don't think it will last a full year... just my opinion though

I'm hoping that they were just "trying too hard" for the first episode and that it will settle down after a week or two. I really WANTED to like the show too, since the movie was one of the best I've seen in a long time!

I'm Greek and from a big family so I could really relate to the movie. I thought the show, however, was alittle flat and did not capture the charm of the movie at all.

DH, DS and I absolutely LOVED the movie, so we were very anxious to watch the tv show. We were all extremely disappointed; the laugh track was so forced, and it seemed like they were over-acting. I kept switching back to Joe Millionnaire during commercials, and I think I should have just watched Joe instead of wasting my time!

I might give it another try - isn't it moving to Sunday nights? I'll only watch it if there's nothing else on.

I went into watching the show not expecting too much, I didn't want to be dissapointed. I fell in love with the movie, and knew that the tv show really couldn't match up to it. With that said, I did like it. I think some of the acting seemed overdone. And I agree the best character is Aunt Voula (sp?). I was laughing hard each time she talked!

I liked it but with that being said they were definetely over acting and trying too hard, they were trying to squeeze too much into a half hour show, i realize they probably thought someone out there hadnt seen the movie so they were filling them in on what was going on, although I doubt there is anyone out there that hasnt seen it, ( my husband hasnt). Hopefully the next episodes they will be more relaxed and it will be better, the girl cant think of her name Nia?? was really over acting so maybe someone will help her out.

I really liked the movie, and I only watched a little bit of the show (had to watch Joe Millionaire). Anyway, from what I did see, they seemed to change Nia's personality a little bit. Her humor was almost effortless in the movie, and now, she seemed to be 'caving' to her relatives, and as others said, just trying too hard.

I LOVED the movie (bought it on DVD!! and have already watched it a few times!) and was really looking forward to the tv show...but as others have said, I really felt something was lacking in the tv show...maybe it's just because it was the first episode?? I also am a huge fan of Everybody Loves Raymond, so maybe having it on right after Raymond, which was great, as usual, was something they shouldn't have done...negative comparisons??

I LOVED both the movie and the TV show. Laughed out loud at both. But, I probably won't be watching the TV show, though, because it's going to be on Sundays at 8PM and that's when American Dreams is on...

I didn't like the way they changed the characters personalities. I also thought it seemed a little flat. I may watch it again to see if it gets better, but I won't go out of my way.
