My best guess - both V-AKL and V-CR

I guess (good start for a speculative post) that Mousellaneous DVC is the best place to post my hunch based on rumors. It is a post for DVC members, those considering DVC, and DVC CM-management who read the DISboards.

With the current state of rumors for the next DVC being AKL or CR,
I had a few thoughts and guesses that I want to post and see what people think and to state my hunch before any announcements.

Okay, here goes, try to stay with me…

• The first resort of the first group of DVC, let’s call it DVC-1, expires 2042, was OKW and has lower point requirements for studio/villas than the other resorts of DVC-1
• The first resort of the second group of DVC , let’s call it DVC-2, expires 2054 is SSR and in my hunch has lower point requirements for studio/villas than the other resorts of DVC-2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
• The second resort of DVC-1 was the BWV and has preferred views and standard views with different point requirements for each
• My hunch, along with the current rumors, has the second resort of DVC-2 being AKL. This DVC-2 resort will offer preferred (savannah) and standard views with different point requirements for each
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
• The third resort of DVC-1 was the VWL and is the closest of the DVC-1 resorts to MK
• The third resort of DVC-2 will be the CR and will be the closest of the DVC-2 resorts to the MK.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Both the AKL and CR villa/studio point requirements will be higher than any of the existing DVC resorts, and the cost for these points will be higher than SSR; however I predict that both new resorts will sell out very quickly.

Well that’s my hunch based on rumors and the past; I just have a strong feeling based upon the perceived strong sales of SSR (any CMs feel free to confirm), the emphasis Disney has focused on DVC (advertising, Bob Iger’s comments, again hinting at strong SSR sales), that we’re close to some big announcements later this year.

Peace,
G4L

I agree.

When SSR finally sells out CR and/or AKL will be announced and it will sell out in weeks, not years. Many of my friends will buy in a heartbeat.

I also agree that the cost per room (or points) will be much higher than OKW, SSR, BWV and VWL. They are going to be very high (comparatively) because this will be the only DVC with monrail access.

If anyone is thinking of staying there, they will need to buy with an 11 month window.

A 7 mo. window may not get you a desired room.

I would buy AK without thinking twice. CR I won't buy under any circumstances.

I have all the points I need and would probably sell some to buy AK, just because that's all I need. (Those HH points are gone and probably either some SSR or OKW. BCV Is SAFE!)

i think they will start selling when ssr is over 90 percent sell out i dont think they will wait until it is completly sells out.

i except the cost per room points to be the same as vwl, bcv,and bwvp.
maint fees will probaly be a little higher.

just a guess of mine someday we will find out who is right and who is wrong.

My guess would be that they would have to have VAK and CRV around the same time. These places would sell so fast compared to the time to construct.

they can then use these two resorts to finish off the sales at SSR as an incentive. (rookies don't know about the buy where you stay).

Wouldn't it be truly "magical" to have a DVC near every park? :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

After being really down on DVC for a few days...I would be SOOO excited to be wrong!!!!

I agree that DVC may be considering a "dual resort announcement" for their 15 yr anniversary...this is really great!!

A DVC rep told me a few years ago that if CRV were to ever happen, DVD would have to purchase the land from WDW....and they wouldn't sell cheap. He said the price per point would never be enough to cover the cost of the land, so to expect really expensive "per night" costs in the resort as well. It makes sense to me.

I am also really excited that the CRV looks to be substantially big (although, I hope it is really not going to be 15 stories). For what will arguably be "THE" destination resort...it should be on the larger side. I think VAKL will be a nice addition to the spread of resorts as well.

I don't think we will buy....we are happy with what we have, but I might just have to try the new resorts out once.

Some good conclusions. Let's hope for the announcement soon. What are your predictions on point values? If it's anything like DVC1, I would conclude something like:

Sunday - Thursdays
Studio: 14 (low season) - 21 (high season)
1 Bed: 24 (low season) - 42 (high season)
2 Bed: 32 (low season) - 52 (high season)
GV's ???

I don't even want to address weekends, as they are already way out of my range.

If this is the case, I'll only be staying in studios when I stay at VCR or AKVL but I'll definitely own at both and stay once every other year.

I think this is a huge possibility. However, I also hope that there are NOT separate point structures based on view for these resorts. People kill themselves for the standard view points at BWV. I really hope DVC doesn't do that again. If you think about it, most likely CRV will have 2 good views anyway ~ MK or the lake ~ and VAKL I think could have savannah views on both sides if the villas are constructed on the left side of the main section of AKL. No real need for separate point structures. Keep it simple.

My DH was reading over my shoulder and had a theory.... That they planned a leak of the building design so everyone would get over the transfer issue. :rotfl: :confused3 I think he resides too much in the Mac (computer) forums. Anywho they seemed to let out the transfer rule/ slap on the wrist not too long before some exciting good news.

I think they will announce both. I have thought this for a while. Maybe even 3 with DL. I think DL will happen sometime.... maybe it's time for that one too?

I think different view catagories would be a good thing. I hate the idea of rushing to the front desk to vie, beg, cry for the room I want. I would rather reserve it!!

DVC has say before they will never again have 2 different points systems at any DVC resort - so BWV is the only one.

the points I think you are too low

Adventure Season (low)
15 for a studio
25 for a 1-bedroom
35 for a 2-bedroom
150 for a GV -

these points are going to be more than BWV and BCV. but I think they might use the same points chart for both Cont and AKL.

but I am not sure DVC would even put a GV at the Cont. GV are expensive and lots of time go unused because they are so expensive.

I know I would get 2-bedroom and a studio before a GV. Yes, they are pretty to look at and sure great to be in. but they aren't big enough for my family to get away from each other.

I hope they anounce both villas simultaneously. I would like to look over both resorts and choose which one I think is better- which will be really hard, as both are great locations. Perhaps we'll even have to buy at both.

Thanks for the updated predictions for points. They sound about right. Weekends are going to be so high!

So along with other conspiracy theories...was the recent hoopla over transfers a precursor to overall changes in the contracts for new members that do not allow any point flexibility (ie: transfers, rentals, etc)? Perhaps they are laying the groundwork for new policies that will prevent non-member guests from staying at the proposed resorts on rented points.

Disney like renters.... many and mean many current DVC members started out renting DVC points.

It doesn't seem to hurt DVC.

So no I don't think they will change the policy.

DVC just went back to the original contract and stopped more than one transfer per year. It is in your original contract. they were not enforcing it - now they will. they changed nothing.

besides it is always hard to tell renters from a DVC member's family members who can be there with or without the member.
