My back yard will be Old Key West!

I am sharing this with you all, because you will get it! Around my part of the world, we build above ground pools - There is only 1 rock in my city, but it covers the whole darn thing! Anyway the standard decor is pool with redwood stained deck - yawn!

I am theming my back yard after Old Key West! We are building the pool and deck ourselves, so I have no idea when we will get finished, but I promise to share pictures if it ever gets done.

The fence is currently being stained "Beach Beige" - and it looks like a sun faded, sand worn beach fence - I love it. We are going to stain the deck seafoam, with white railing. The landscaping will include lots of pompus grass, which looks very similar to sea grass. I am going to hang a stand of light bulbs that look just like the ones next to the main pool. I even have a 2 ft. light house!

Ok, I feel better sharing with people who understand WHY I want my back yard to feel like OKW - carry on.

I LOVE the idea!!! We must see pictures!! Key West is the theme I want for my bedroom when we redo it. OKW is my absolute favorite place.

Sounds wonderful! Our cabinets are pickled maple---very close to the ones at OKW, so I understand wanting to feel like your on vacation at home. Maybe you could plant some elephant's ear and yucca plants, too. It's too cold for palms here, but if you also live where it's too cool, you could plant them in pots (Sago palms) and bring them inside for the winter. I'm excited for you!
