This is the letter I wrote to my students and parents- welcoming them back to school...Tell me what you think :(

To all my Sixth Graders & Families,
Hello from your sixth grade teacher Mrs. Gschwendtner. I hope all of you have had a fun and safe summer. I can’t wait to hear about all of your adventures when we get back to school.
Your teachers at Maryland have been hard at work all summer planning for the upcoming school year. We have lots of projects, field trips, and activities planned for you. There are two new sixth grade teachers, Mr. Baack and Mr. Bressler. You all already know myself and Ms. Adams. We have all been working together to make the next school year the best year ever for you at Maryland. I taught summer school and took classes. My classes have helped me to learn how to teach you all you need to learn in the sixth grade.
The beginning of the school year is not just time to think about your sixth graders coming back to school. It is also time to start thinking about family members coming back to school. I am always in need of classroom volunteers. I have enclosed a volunteer schedule please feel free to drop it off at the school, at open house, or send it back to school with your child. We need parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, or siblings to come in and help in our classroom. Please feel free to contact me if you any questions.
Enjoy your last few days of summer! Get excited about your sixth grade adventure!! Be prepared to work together to have the best year of your life! I am excited and you should be too!!
See you soon,

Mrs. Gschwendtner

Maybe should read, "myself and Ms. Adams", since you're writing the letter?

Since I DON'T know you, HOW DO YOU pronounce that name?! I'm sure it's easier than it looks. ;)

Can I send my DS to you? You sound so welcoming. His 6th grade is at the middle school here and I am frightened:( ! Don't think we will be getting a letter from a teacher at all!! I will have to be prepared at Open House to ask all I need to know. They don't even want volunteers in the classes in 6th grade here, but I can go elsewhere in the school to help. Take my DS!;)

BibbidiBobbidiBoo- of course!! We have our sixth grade at the elementary school so it's not so scary for the kids. In a few years it will move to the middle school but I won't- I will be back in fifth grade by that time.
I had these kids last year in fifth grade- that makes the new year easier for all of us...

That letter sounds great. I would love receiving such a welcoming letter. I love volunteering at school, and your letter certainly lets parents know that they are welcome to help out. Your enthusiasm sure seems like it would be a comfort to all the students that are a little nervous. Great job!

PS Hope you have a great year too!

That letter is great ...... you sound like you're really dedicated to your "kids" ......

I think it should be "know me and Ms. Adams" not "know myself ....."
