My oldest child graduated from pre-school today.:sad1: While I am so happy and proud of him I can't believe how the time has gone by. He was so handsome in his cap and gown and he even got to hold the flag and tell everyone to "Please rise for the Pledge." In a few short months he will go off to kindergarten like a "big boy." Needless to say I cried through graduation (like all the Moms) and he was so sweet. After he came over and wiped my tears with his gown.:sad1: I had already told him that I would be crying because I was so proud of him. Well, sorry to blubber on but I have been crying privately for over a week at this bittersweet time. I really am lucky to have these wonderful kids who make me so happy. :cloud9:

Any other criers out there?

Go ahead and get the extra large box of tissue, because you're in this crying corner for the rest of your life! I shed tears, not all out bawling, but neat little quiet tears welling up in my eyes, at every program my kids were ever in. They've been in it all - Christmas plays, patriotic shows, fashion shows, Honor Society, etc. - at school, and I got chills and a tear or two EVERY time. The pride and love just wells up in you and overflows...can't be helped. My kids are now grown, and my daughter now has a daughter of her own. Nothing has changed. Every milestone they pass, every achievement they obtain, I am just so happy that I get that quiet little tear-welling thing going on. And now, I get to continue that with my grandchildren. I'm taking the whole family to WDW this summer, and I already get goosebumps just thinking of what it will be like to watch my daughter share the magic with her daughter. I think this trip will find me just doing a lot of watching them and getting a lot of joy from that. I am most looking forward to waving at them from below as they ride together on Dumbo. You know what it's like, with the little ones waving down, picking out their person down below each time they go around. I'm probably going to just be a complete fool inside when I witness that for the first time. So, Mama, go ahead and invest in the biggest box of tissue they make, and enjoy all the fun, laughter, and tears ahead. You are a very blessed woman!

By the way, we'd love to see a picture of your son in his program. One of my favorite pictures of my youngest, who is now 18, is of him in a patriotic play at pre-school. He had no idea what he was doing, but every time the others waved their little flags, he waved his and just grinned. He was, if I may say so, the cutest one up there on that stage! He was adopted from Korea, so he was up there in all his red, white, and blue with his little grin and those cute little eyes. It is a memory I treasure!

I cry at every school event.

Why, it seems like yesterday that I was crying at my DD's preschool graduation and here she is, graduating High School next year. That thought alone makes me cry!!

I know. I cry at every event too. It's just that I can't believe he is already going to kindergarten. I feel like just this morning I found out I was expecting him.:sad1:

My oldest graduated from high school in May and my baby graduated from pre-K in May. Big age difference! :cool1:

I always tell people that nobody cries alone when I'm around. Seriously, if I just see someone tearing up, I will start as well. So, I would've been crying right there with you.

My "baby" also graduated from preschool this year. We don't have a "graduation" ceremony though. I'm not sure why. I mean we have a picnic and a Spring Music program and Art Show, but those are for the whole school. Oh well..... No biggie. I never even thought about it.

I have several friends whose youngests are also starting K in the fall. We have already decided that during that first week of school we are going to get together for a "Boo Hoo to Woo Hoo Breakfast." The idea is, obviously, to turn our boo hoos into woo hoos as we enjoy a little bit of well deserved free time. If you were closer, you could join us. :goodvibes

My oldest graduated from pre-K this year too! I don't know what I'm going to do when he starts Kindergarten!

Thanks guys for all the support. I knew you would understand.:grouphug: Not only is my oldest starting kindergarten, but my dd starts pre-school in the fall as well.:sad1: I may have a breakdown! I will be home with my 2 youngest but still- who told them they could grow up this fast?!!!

Thats funny- I cried on the FIRST day of school!

My DS4 just "graduated" yesterday from pre-school. There were 53 kids! But there were two groups - those that have another year of pre-school and the older group who will be going into kindergarten in September. DS4 was part of the older group.

I wasn't crying (came close though), but was so proud of him. He came such a long way from not being able to spell his name when he started to being able to (within about 2 months after he started). He is also on his way to being able to read. He's learning very slowly, but he's learning. I can spell words to DH, thinking DS won't know what I'm spelling, and he will say the word . There goes that little trick, except for the big words LOL

I was also very proud of his patience. He was the last one called to receive his "diploma" and sat there very patiently as all of his friends were called to receive theirs. Now for my son to be patient is a miracle in itself! He's never patient at home, always whining that he "can't wait". But this time he did and I told him how very proud I am, as did DH

Today is his first day back in daycare for the summer and he went right over to play with two of his friends like he wasn't even gone a day!

Congrats! Isn't it amazing what they learn in such a short period of time? They really are like little sponges. princess:

Yes, and I'm amazed at what he is learning! I was surprised that his teachers were teaching math (like 3+1=4) while they were teaching the kids their numbers. I didn't learn math until about 1st grade.

DD graduates tomorrow afternoon! And I am a big time crier so I know to bring tissues - it isn't going to be pretty.

And as far as the little ones growing up I feel like my three kids got together and decided to do it all at once. In one weekend, DD had her dance recital (sniff) her first swim meet (big tears I was so proud!), DS potty trained all at once and DS2 crawled in the morning and pulled to standing the same afternoon!! It was like all my babies were growing up all at once! What was really cool was that my mom and grandmother were visiting from out of state and they got to see everything as it was happening.

You know everyone says how fast they grow, but you just don't realize it until they are yours!

I am so glad I found this thread!

I was sitting here feeling weepy because my "baby boy" will be starting kindergarten in the fall. He graduates from preschool next week, and I've been kinda mellow lately knowing that this phase of my life will be ending.

DS celebrated his 4th birthday today, so for the last day or so I've been reminiscing: What was I doing exactly 4 years ago today? I know it's a cliche, but it really is incredible how quickly children grow up. Every stage of their growth and development is wonderful and amazing.
