My babies feet are too chubby for shoes!

I have four boys. All of them had the same problem as babies... chubby feet. I typically just put socks on the baby because I have no shoes that will fit him, but for Disney, I wanted to be able to put something on his feet occasionally so he can stand on the pavement. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can find a sandal or water shoe for extra chubby feet? He'll probably be in a size 3 if I had to guess.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Hi! We always joked that my son had Fred Flintstone feet. Once he was old enough to walk and needed real shoes - he could only wear Stride Rite shoes in not just a wide, but EXTRA WIDE.

So, with that - have you tried Robeez on him? My son wore Robeez until he was about 18 months old. Even with his big, fat feet they would fit on him and he couldn't take them off himself.

I have also had luck with the kids flip flops by Crocs - they have a strap on the back that holds them onto their feet, but they are made really wide as well.

My son has the same problem - I didn't get him shoes until he was walking because we couldn't get his chubby feet into ANYTHING, not even the Robeez - they were so tight the elastic would leave indents in the tops of his poor little feet. Once he started walking we went straight to Stride Right on the advice of others. I was told that Land's End sells wide shoes too, I haven't checked though. Good luck!

It's expensive, but Stride Rite has wide shoes (including sandels)- not always in stock, sometimes they need to order them. One of our friends has this same issue.

Otherwise, we got Croc style shoes for DS at Buy Buy Baby over the weekend - the smallest size they had is 4, but that worked for DS since he is size 3 1/2.

My friend's one son had what she dubbed "caveman feet" for years. The only shoes she bought for him were the extra wides at Stride Rite. They usually have several styles in extra wide there. The shoes are a little pricey but great for a baby/toddler.

My son had wide flat feet, the only shoes he wore for awhile were converse low tops. They are quite a bit wider than most tennies.
Payless shoes has a good selection of wide widths also.

Our DS also had fat feet as a baby and it was hard to find him shoes. I know Payless sells extra-wide shoes. We got him a pair or 2 there but most of the time we bought shoes at Stride Rite. Yes they are expensive, but so worth it because they're very durable. He was also able to wear Robeez without problems.

His feet are normal now. They're still big, but not wide!

Most of my boys have had the same issue. I've either ended up buying a little bit larger shoe, or discovered the Target brand Robeez. Made the same way, but way less expensive. He wore through his first pair...he's into his second now. THey keep him from slipping on our floor in the living room and they conform to his chubby foot. I have also gotten the crocs with the strap on the back...although those still have a tendency to slip off right now.

My son had the same problem. If you are looking for water shoes try The Childrens Place the shoes have Velcro across the top of the foot. Good Luck

New Balance sells an Xtra wide shoe too. We had to get it for my 4 year old.

My youngest had triple wide feet. Thank God for Stride Rite. I didn't have much choice, but it gave him shoes. Luckily, his feet are down to wide; still somewhat of a problem, but not as bad as it was before.

My DD 9months has her daddy's Fred Flintstone feet. I bought her croc-offs at Target size 3 in the baby dept. not in the shoe dept.

DS also has wide feet. He wears Stride Rite Wide. He also has the new Robeez Tredz and the leather is really soft so three is a lot of give unlike your typical Wal mart sneaker.

Stride Rite or New Balance...both make shoes that should work. One bad thing about Stride Rite is that the stores often don't carry the extended sizes, and only certain styles come in extra wides anyway. You might try looking online before driving!

My boys and I all wear 4E's...we have flippers, not feet, lol! I'd love to be able to walk into Target and buy a pair of shoes...but for us, that's just not happening!

OP if you have any outlet malls near you, or going to Orlando anytime soon:goodvibes , you may want to try the Stride Rite Outlet. Mine is an hour drive but I can get a pair for $20 than the $50 at the mall. Then you can just buy more!!! My DS3 has 2xwide.

My son had fat feet too. Fortunately he grew out of it. How about crocs? Not the croclings but the regular crocs?

Robeez worked great for my son. We took him to a stride rite type store where the fit the shoes adn they had a few brands that fit him as well. They were all foreign brands and expensive, but fit. I will never NOT get my kid fitted for shoes now because they never wear the size I think they should. I would have done so much damage to his poor feet.

Due to the cost, my poor DS only has one or two pairs at a time. I just can't afford to give him variety :)
