I just finished booking a last minute family vacation to WDW last week for the end of August. It's been about 15 years cince I've been to WDW and I've never stayed on site until now (booked CBR for 8 nights) and never even knew about ADRs, so the past week has been quite the learning curve! The trip is my husband and I and our 4yo son. I booked with the free DDP. I was (for obvious reasons) a little limited on some of my selections at the times I needed, but managed to get some bookings in. My priority is trying to keep my son from reaching meltdown point and focused more on breakfast and lunch buffet ADRs for that reason (that plus he always eats more at those meals than dinner). I also wanted to give him a good dose of character meals.

Anyway, here's what I've got...

Day 1 - arrival day, should be checked in by mid afternoon. Will either hit the MK for the afternoon/evening (if we do that, I'll cancel this ADR) or stay at the resort and head to DTD in the evening.
Dinner @ House of Blues

Day 2 - Epcot
Breakfast @ Ohana
Dinner @ Biergarten

Day 3 - MK
Lunch @ Crystal Palace
Dessert Party @ Tomorrowland Terrace

Day 4 - Offsite to IoA, no ADRs this day

Day 5 - Offsite and/or resort day no parks.
Breakfast @ 1900 Park Fare

Day 6 - HS
Breakfast @ Hollywood & Vine
Early dinner @ Sci-Fi

Day 7 - AK
Lunch @ Tuskers

Day 8 - MK
Dinner @ The Plaza

Day 9 - Travel Day, no ADRs

The only things that I really would've liked, but couldn't get, were the first night at T-REX (instead of HoB) and a Chef Mickey's. But other than that, I think I did okay considering how late in the game I am. Let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions!

I was able to grab a table for 3 for chef mickeys for a breakfast when we go in sept.
people are always cancelling. Keep an eye on that.

I would prefer chef mickeys over 1900 park faire any day.

For T-Rex, call the restuarant directly (407) 828 - 8739. You'll probably get the reservation you want.

We've gone the last week in August each of the last two years (doing DCL that week this year), so I know first-hand how very difficult ADRs are for that week. Overall, you did pretty well. For the ones you didn't get, keep trying - especially in the next 10-14 days when people going that week will be hitting their 45-day/final payment mark. So you may well pick up some cancellations.

My first night at HoB is only a maybe. If we keep it, then I'll just cancel something that is later in the week, probably the park faire or the sci-fi.

As for CS, I have no clue really, still looking into them. My goal is to make a list of 4 or 5 possibilities per park and will make our decision based on where we are when we get hungry. Any breakfast that is not an ADR will either be at our resort or in our room.
