My AP-ALOOZA Continues (WE RENEWED!!) ~ NEW TR link posted!

Booked for 10/3 3D Dessert Party!! :cool1: She charged us for Aria (as they did last time, and then we were refunded at the party bc they said we shouldn't have been charged, so fingers crossed they do that again!). RUDE CM was stating Aria was charged because the event is geared towards ADULTS and kids shouldn't go. I noticed on our last time many kids around. Anyway...

Something I've really been wanting to do is the Tribute to Walt Disney event. It is on 10/24. Will probably sell out, but I am just toying with the idea of going. I wish i had someone to go with, as it would be fun to take in a few F&W events sans Aria like wine tastings and such...but Andrew isn't interested. It does seem silly to return less than 2 weeks after getting back - if the event was in December or even mid-November then I'd probably have it booked already.

I also didn't find a way to fit in any other F&W events during the 10/3-10/12 timeframe that are kid-friendly. Parisian Breakfast on 10/4 would be awesome, but we have Biergarten planned for lunch with Andrew's parents and they want to do that. Anyway ramblings over...

I too love that type of food and must visit Café Orleans and Ralph Brennans on every trip to DL. Aria looks adorable in her tiara. Thanks for sharing your trip plans & reports!

Thank you!! I love her tiara! We are doing a photo shoot this weekend and I'm bringing that tiara with us. I LOVE cajun food and glad Lynda was fine with my dining choices!

The picture of Aria smiling at the mirror with the tiara on is super cute :goodvibes

You food all looks really good - especially the bread pudding.

I haven't seen a lot of details on it but the Walt Disney event dining sounds like a really cool concept at least

I can't believe they charged for Aria again. Hopefully they do refund again. Hmm we might just miss each other in October I think we are definitely going! I sent you a PM with our dates.

Love the pictures of Aria and her tiara! So precious!

I need advice!! I started thinking about the transportation issue a bit more for August. My plan after adding 2 nights on at the beginning to visit Universal was a rental car (212) for the whole trip (add $40 in Universal parking fees and $40 in gas plus a few bucks for tolls - so say $300 total).

Then I saw Mears offers a round trip shuttle to the Universal hotels for $32 from MCO. Or $20 one-way. Aria will be free.

So my thought was I could either take a 9:40 shuttle (it only comes once an hour on the 40-minute mark) from RPR, arriving at MCO around 10:20? Then hop on the ME to Disney. This has a couple flaws though: Don't have a stop for groceries & might miss my 12PM lunch reservation, AND it leaves me only an hour or so to enjoy the parks (via early entry) before I have to catch the shuttle).

So my next thought was Mears to RPR (20) then private transportation from RPR to Disney (have them pick us up at 10:30?) (~60?), then ME at the end of the trip back to MCO? (I heard I can book it only one way?). I'd need to find transportation that is willing to stop for groceries, so not sure about this one.

Or I can just stick with my original plan, which is to have the car. That will cost me at least $220 more than both options above, but I can use the car during my disney days as well (remember, i hate disney buses!) - i.e. getting to EPCOT for EMH when the monorail isn't running yet, getting from DHS to DTD and back to the hotel, etc etc.

So, WWYD in my shoes? I know many (if not all) of you are fine with Disney buses, but remember that I don't like them and don't like wasting time, and to boot it will be tough maneuvering them with Aria, the stroller, backpack and possibly more bags. Think I can do that? Is it worth saving $220?

Thank you for your help!

When staying on site we have never done a rental car, but in your case I think it would be worth the 220 extra to not have to worry about shuttles and busses and all that.

We got a car on our last on site trip and I dont think I could ever go beck to buses. They were fine b4 lo but now I prefer a car. We actually always use priceline bidding and get good rates. I also book and rebook when better deals come out. In your circumstance I would def do a car if budget allowed.

Yeah it sounds fantastic. I found out that all events are not able to be cancelled though so I decided not to book and see. Maybe it will sell out and I won't feel the pull to go...,hahaha

I know! It didn't help the cm was so rude. I'm glad andrew vetoed the added expense of sweet seats now! I pmd you back :)

Thank you both for the replys - that is what I am leaning toward too. It's already budgeted, so the 220 would have just gone to more souvenirs or something (which I will need more $$ than I budgeted for all the hp stuff I want!! Lol). But I think the convenience is just worth it. :)

Oooh, your trip plans are coming together!! I'm really craving a trip soon -- we don't have one planned though (we may be moving! back to MA! so with that up in the air, I can't book anything)

I love Aria's dress! Your skirt is cute too! :)

The gumbo looks SO good! Mmm, and so goes the gnocchi. And, I haven't met goat cheese that I didn't like! And wine! Sounds like a great dinner! Love when everything comes together like that, and you get a relaxing meal out. It can be rare! :goodvibes

re: the transportation dilemma...I'm not much help, because I don't mind Disney busses. But, you could do some good shopping with $220!

Okay, let's see if I can remember all I wanted to say.

Aria looks even more like a princess than usual with her tiara! So cute! Love her big smile. princess:

Your meal looks delicious!! And I am SO glad that you had both desserts and they were both great! :goodvibes And yay for Aria having good taste too! :thumbsup2

On the Dessert Party - if I remember right, Aria was sleeping in the stroller last time? I'm thinking that may be why they refunded you - she wouldn't be participating/eating anything. :confused3 What do you expect this time? Will she still be up or likely asleep by then? Hope you get a refund for her either way. Not the same thing, but it annoys me when you are asked to pay for something when the child is too young to pay admission in the first place - that happened at the zoo last time I went - I was going to pay the $5 for us to ride a camel, but they wanted to charge for Izzy too (even though she's under 2 and free zoo admission), so I skipped it. Couldn't justify $10 for like 60 seconds (and she was too small to ride alone). She was sad. :sad1:

That's cool about the babysitter at Universal. Hope it works out for you. If not, there's an extra $55 towards the next thing...

If you manage to skip the car, you could put that savings towards the Walt Disney Tribute event. ;) Or, if you can pinch pennies like me, $200 will pay for an entire extra long weekend trip! :thumbsup2

As far as stopping for groceries, I think most of the towncar companies have a 30 minute grocery stop built in. I'm basing that solely on TRs, though, so you may want to verify.

Have you decided which stroller you're bringing? That obviously impacts the do-ability of the buses. Knowing you, I would imagine that you would be antsy with waiting for buses - so it might be tough unless you can look at them as another attraction vs. a means to an end, if you know what I mean. Not sure if it's a reasonable possibility to rent a car on Disney property partway through the trip if you change your mind? Don't know if it would be cheaper than renting one the whole time? Good luck figuring it all out!

Back to MA?!?!? OMG! Think it will be to the Foxboro area? That'd be so neat, we will have to plan a meet up! :goodvibes

Thank you!! Dinner was fabulous, as you said rare to sit down for 2 hours and thoroughly enjoy a meal with a 2 year old! haha! Maybe the bottle of wine helped.

Yes, I could! It's just tough imagining doing it all solo...thanks for the input!

I know - that tiara and her excitement to wear it was just so fun, I'm so glad I went back for it.

You're right, Aria will fully enjoy the desserts at this 3D Dessert Party, vs being asleep for the whole thing. However, being 2, I still don't think she should need a ticket considering she doesn't for any buffet, dinner show, etc (or get into the park as you mentioned). Oh well.

SPeaking of camels, Aria did ride a camel at our zoo (for the $5 per ticket price...lol) last weekend!

I actually have been talking to the babysitter, Victoria! She is going to come along with us to the park on 8/23! So excited i'll be able to ride some biggies. I plan to go straight to Gringotts and ride that, then maybe the Mummy, then head to IoA for Forbidden Journey, Spiderman, and not sure what else. Maybe Hulk? She will be able to bring Aria into the lines with me, if I am not feeling totally comfortable leaving her by herself (their rider swap thing functions differently), or bring her on some of the kid rides.

For the Walt Disney tribute meal, if I went solo the cost would be about $600 for Shades of green (115) plus flight, add in another 120 for the dinner, plus food the rest of the weekend, and that $200 car savings doesn't really go very far. I think I'm giving up on that idea!

Due to having to fold up the stroller when we ride the Hogwarts Express between the two universal parks, I am going to bring the City Mini again. (Also, so much easier to carry that down to the plane vs. the city select!). Can't wait for Andrew to be there in October so we can bring the select though! haha!

I think I'm sticking with the car rental for the whole time, I just get anxious even worrying about waiting all that time for transportation! As you know, I'm super impatient :rotfl:

Just over 3 weeks left (3 weeks tomorrow!! EEK!!) so next Friday I plan to do a “This time in 2 weeks…” pre-trip series (for my own enjoyment, ha!). I’d do a “This time in 1 week…but the trip is longer than a week and I’d overlap! (Happy dance!!)” Also on a trip-related note – I found a car rental for $191 - $21 cheaper than I previously had AND it’s through Dollar vs. EZ Rent a car – which I was UN-EZ about using due to really awful reports. AND even cooler, I booked the babysitter for the morning of the 23rd so I can ride Gringotts, Forbidden Journey, Mummy, Despicable Me, Rip Ride Rocket, Transformers, Spiderman, Hulk, and Dragon Challenge (I have my morning planned out very fast paced haha). She’ll be with us for 5 hours and I’m getting her a room key for early entry.

So on that note, by next Friday I plan to have this DL tr finished up! Still a lot of fun to get through, though only 1 full day and our travel day so not too bad!

Moving on to our Day 4, Tuesday May 6th! Our plan for the day was breakfast at Steakhouse 55, DL for rope drop at 9 (regular park opening was at TEN ?!?!?! but thankfully we had early entry for 9). DL through nap time then hop over to DCA for our World of Color dining package at the Wine Country Trattoria, then stay through World of Color!

So on to breakfast!! We wanted to try out the “nice” restaurant at the Disneyland hotel, but couldn’t fit it in for dinner. Thankfully it serves breakfast though so it worked out perfectly to sit down for a nice breakfast before going to the parks. Bonus – it has one of my favorite breakfast foods ever – huevos rancheros! On our way to the restaurant, we peeked into the pool areas and noticed that the slide pool was OPEN! YAY! Then we got to Steakhouse 55! The interior of the restaurant was gorgeous – classic Walt Disney with photos all around from Disney’s time. Next time I’m at Disneyland I want to plan a dinner here. It FELT like a place you’d see Walt Disney himself striding through.

I ordered Aria a kids mixed plate which had a little muffin, fruit, and yogurt. She was being a little butt this morning though and wouldn't eat much of anything.

I ordered the Huevos Rancheros of course - and this is by far my favorite variation I've ever had!! YUM!

It was all delicious and so nice to have a relaxing breakfast!

Once breakfast was complete we headed for the Disneyland gates! I think it was about 8:15AM at that point, so still very early. We used the Turnstyle 14 trick today and it worked...while waiting to enter we took a couple pics! Yes, Princess Aria was heading into DL!

Once we entered, it was the mad dash to the rope again at the end of main st! This time they did things a little differently though - the left sidewalk was reserved for those trying to get to Anna & Elsa! They tried to make a line out of it, and then walked them to the A&E line vs a crazy running dash. We did not participate in that since A&E weren't going to be out for an hour...so instead we were at the front of the line ready to head to the Fantasyland rides!

Look who Aria brought today to the parks - a photopass pic once we were inside!

Then on to Fantasyland. We decided to split up so I could attempt riding the Matterhorn and Lynda took Aria to Peter Pan. On my walk over to the Matterhorn it was nice to see a little empty park-

Canal boats - how I wish there wasn't always a ridiculous line! (not open for EE, unfortunately)

I don't mean to be negative, but I can honestly say I don't remember this being so awful. It used to have a 34" height requirement before they changed out the cars, and I think they should still have that - it seems tamer than Barnstormer although it is much less smooth. SO glad I didn't stand in line for 45 minutes for that! Definitely something I can skip from now on. Maybe I'm just getting old, but man that hurt!

Continued in next post!

After that I went back into the main Fantasyland area, and Lynda was just about to get onto Peter Pan - the line had built THAT quickly! WOW! So I waited and took a crazy photo of the crowds! OK this is what happens when a park opens at 10!! And early entry is for 9!! WTH?? These are the crowds at 9:15am.

They made it out, Aria had a blast, and then we headed to Pinocchio's! IT was running, yay!

My "big" goal for the morning was to meet Tinkerbelle at her grotto which opened up at 10:30AM. We were done with the Fantasyland rides that we could do (after Pinocchio the lines were just crazy long) around 9:45 so had a little time to kill before I deemed it necessary to hop in line, so we went to tomorrowland. First we tried to ride Buzz, but the line was already over 30 minutes long (!!!) so we decided to check out Astro Orbiter instead. We waited probably 15 minutes to ride

to be continued!

Breakfast looks really good! Sorry Aria was being a butt (that made me laugh) -- funny how they go from perfect at dinner the night before, to stubborn the next morning! :rolleyes2

Looks like a nice morning so far! Very cool to see pictures of and hear about the different rides at DL! :thumbsup2

Looks like a nice breakfast and nice restaurant.

Funny to see pictures of the Matterhorn ride when my dad has been posting pictures on FB of the actual Matterhorn today (he's there on vacation).

When we were at DL in 2006, we ended up riding the Astro Orbiter and then the Matterhorn during the fireworks. Both were a good view and a really cool way to see the fireworks.

Those crowds look insane!

sounds like a good breakfast and that restaurant has a nice feel to it (for lack of a better way to put it) - looks like a place that would make for a nice date night

wow, the matterhorn is less smooth than Barnstormer? That must be really rough! Pinocchio's ride does look nice though ... but those crowds! My goodness!

LOVE Steakhouse 55! Looks like it's a good choice for breakfast too. And I had to go back in my pictures from our trip to look, because I thought that might be the same booth DH and I sat in, and it is!!!!

Next to the glass wall and the same picture over us! How funny!

I can't believe those crowds! Especially during the week, right?? That's insane!! We were there later in the month when we went in 2012 and it definitely wasn't even close to that crazy.

Haha I mean it could have been worse, but I just hate when I order her food I KNOW she enjoys, and she refuses to eat!! She does that a lot!

That is a funny coincidence! That is neat about the fireworks, I bet that was cool!

It really did! I want a date night there with Andrew when we go to DL next, for sure! Oh they don't even compare, matterhorn was just horrible!

I couldn't resist a crowd photo when I was standing at the sword waiting for Lynda - it was just unbelievable! On a Tuesday!? SO random.

LOVE Steakhouse 55! Looks like it's a good choice for breakfast too. And I had to go back in my pictures from our trip to look, because I thought that might be the same booth DH and I sat in, and it is!!!!

that is hilarious!!! What are the chances!! I don't remember you visiting Steakhouse 55, where was Paxton? Ohh was this your anniversary trip?

Yeah this was a Tuesday!??? I've never seen crowds like that at DL, and never want to again! Though as long as Indiana Jones is up and the SR line is working, guess I'll be happy...:goodvibes

I can't believe it's 2 WEEKS from Friday!! :cool1: YAY! I just saved another $40 on the car rental - $155 for 11 days! Pretty awesome! ALSO - got a BoG FP for lunch for the same time as TheMaxRebo - I attempted it three times without being able to see it on the website, but I did get 2 screenshots, so no idea if it actually went through (or if I have 3 different FP for it, whoops). I did order the food, mainly bc there isn't much for me to choose from (I got the turkey sandwich) but I'm excited to try it out for lunch!

So on with Disneyland!! Finishing it up today or tomorrow so I can start working on my "This time in 2 weeks..." posts!

After this ride, Lynda went off to hop in the Space mountain line, while I took Aria over to get in the Tinkerbelle line. There were a few families ahead of us but it wasn't too bad. (looks worse than it is - there was a rope up and shortly after we arrived they lowered the rope - so only about 5 families ahead of us)

The fairy grotto was really cute to check out while we waited

Then we waited a little while longer to meet Tink - around this time Lynda texted me that she was heading over. Perfect timing!

Aria was having fun and didn't mind the wait at all!

Tink took a lot of time with Aria, it was really sweet. I don't know what she was saying to her but Aria seemed to really enjoy the interaction

After that, we met up with Lynda for some bathroom breaks, and then we headed to the Casey Jr. Train! We were on a mission to ride things we hadn't had a chance to yet, and this was top of the list for me since it is not at WDW. Unfortunately the line was crazy long, but no fastpasses and no option other than to just stick it out. This is another FL ride that isn't open during EE.

1622700_10100138531044821_7271725474973054343_n.jpg

While I waited in line, Lynda ran to grab fastpasses for Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin. I don't remember what she did after that, but I didn't see her for about 30 minutes. hmm.. She did ride the Casey Jr train on a recent visit so didn't feel the need to ride again. Aria LOVES trains though so we waited.

We almost didn't make this train, but they called for a party of 2 so we got the last seat! WoohoO! It was in the caboose (facing forward)!

The wait was SO worth it!! If only my videos would load. Aria was saying "weeeee" the whole time, and loving every minute. Plus, it is fun because it goes through the same area that the storybookland canal boats go through, visiting the miniature villages.

After the fun ride, we had a little break for snacks for Aria and waters for us.

Continuing with rides that we hadn't yet ridden - Jungle Cruise was up there! So that was our next destination! Again no FP's are available. The line said 30 minutes, but thankfully went much faster than that.

I think DL's Jungle Cruise is much better than WDW's version. Plus of course it's the original - I believe I read that Walt himself enjoyed conducting the cruise on occasion, which may be a total rumor but still neat that this was a ride he himself spent so much time designing.

After that fun ride, it was nearing time to go watch the Rapunzel show at the fairytale hall. - I originally had Mickey & the magical map on my MUST DO list, but like many other things, it was closed this trip. I had heard good things about the princess shows though. Lynda went off to use a FP at Big Thunder, and I found us seats at the theater - we arrived with about 4 minutes to spare so there weren't many seats remaining, which left us sitting in the back to one side. Oh well!

10177923_10100138532372161_1687032912797299359_n.jpg

Lynda made it in time though and Aria sat on her lap for a better view!

The show was cute but I remember it being a bit hard to hear, so I'd recommend getting there a bit earlier for better seats.

Perfect timing though for our FP's for the Car Toon Spin though! So we headed over to Toontown!

Stand by was at 40 minutes

Random pics, but the ride is a lot of fun. You can spin your car (though we didn't do that too much) and it's like driving through nighttime NYC (i think). I don't remember any of the stories of Roger Rabbit, so not really sure what scenes we went through, but the ride itself is fun nonetheless.

10308155_10100138532761381_7290299816852825567_n.jpg

Then we made a quick stop over at Goofy's playground (I looked at the waits for Minnie & Mickey, because it would have been fun to let her play in the houses, but they were both over 45 minutes, and lines were way outside the doors).

Then headed into a little shop in Toontown, Aria found a Mickey (what else right?)

10294459_10100138532926051_3639879346799439881_n.jpg

Oh, and a Minnie too

10336803_10100138532960981_6921628033134656067_n.jpg

I'd been eyeing this pink hat for a couple days now, so had to take a pic!

10264722_10100138533045811_4172855766188375033_n.jpg

Then it was really nearing nap time. Aria had some snacks for lunch (left over from breakfast plus a squeeze packet). Lynda wanted to ride Splash so we headed over that way. The Pooh ride was at about 25 minute wait so we skipped that, but I decided to keep her up a little longer to meet Pooh!! So Lynda headed in to ride and we waited about 10 minutes for Pooh.

It ended up being a really sweet meet - she was so excited to see pooh from afar, and then she just melted into him when she met him.

Here is Lynda's ride photo!!

10155491_10100138533734431_3056765254826562950_n.jpg

After Pooh, I lowered the stroller seat and Aria settled right in, totally ready for a nap. We spent a little time shopping on Main St. at this point. I saw this absolutely adorable light that I HAVE to get for Aria's princess room - I hope I can find these again. I don't remember them at WDW?

10334432_10100138533724451_6366770026995012279_n.jpg

I did however manage to buy a few things. Aria *needed* a Mickey (I seem to buy her a lot while she sleeps lol!), and a Minnie headband and then some really adorable plates that I never got a photo of - but they are a hard plastic and represent the different lands of DL. Aria uses them at almost every meal, so they were definitely a good buy!

Coming up later on - pool time and then DCA!
