My Annual dues are now due....

I've just checked DVCMembers and my dues are now due. However, when I look at the amount requested it is less than I was expecting.

I have 150 points at SSR and last year these were $4.12 per point. I believe that the "inflation" was approx 3% bringing this up to $4.24 per point. This would come to approx $636.

My account is showing $499.05. Does anybody have any ideas?

A similar thing happened at OKW for 2008. The taxes for 2007 were over-estimated and the credit is appearing in 2008. Go on the member website and your dues statement will show you the makeup of the 2008 dues.

Unfortunately, that part of the site appears to be "down" at the moment. I'll try again later.
However, we're looking at approx $135 in $630, that's a whopping 27% reduction.....now I'm not complaining or anything, and with the strength of the £ against $ and just past Christmas, I'm happy for any reduction.

I'm a SSR owner and the reduction is actually a credit for an overpayment of 2007 property taxes. In Florida property taxes are paid in arrears. This means is that in 2006 DVD must estimate what they think the taxes will be for 2007. They bill each owner accordingly then wait for the tax bill to arrive (usually in November of each year).

This year they guessed too high so all owners get a credit on their 2008 dues. You are correct, the reduction is nice. However, the opposite would have occurred if DVD underestimated 2007 taxes we would be asked to make up the difference.

While I would prefer to hang on to money, I also would much prefer to overpay taxes than under pay.

Okay, we all pay taxes (except those with good accountants ) but I'm English and don't know what the rate of taxation on property is in Florida. Even so, $130 surplus of "tax" on $630 does seem a rather large miscalculation to me (mind you, our Chancellor of the Exchequer loses count when he runs out of fingers).

I don't have SSR (I have VWL), but my tax credit on 150 points was more like $10, not $100. Something still doesn't sound right. You might have to wait until you get your bill, which since you are in UK make take a while.

BTW, my tax credit was something like $19.00 on SSR and BWV combined. Something does sound a little strange, I own 175 SSR points and my 2008 dues total is $720.00-ish.

Maybe they overcharged you some extra in 07 somewhere.

Managed to get on to DVCMembers (its finally up again). Apparantly I was overcharged about 90c in property tax, equating to $135.47.

Lots more beer money
