My (Almost) Tragic Wait List Experience...

I transferred in 122 points so that I could secure a 2-BR P/G room at the BWV for 3 nights in October 2019 for a 3-generation family trip. We are staying the first 5 nights of our trip at my home resort (AKV) but my Dad LOVES the Boardwalk and since this will probably be his final trip to WDW, we wanted to make it special:love1:.

At 11 months out, I knew I had to call in at 9am sharp. I had been watching availability and saw that the Boardwalk View rooms were also available. I knew that would be especially great for Dad since sitting on a bench, people-watching, is one of his favorite things to do at WDW. As I suspected, when the time came to book, our first night was not available in a Boardwalk view. I booked the 2BR P/G view and set up a wait list for the Boardwalk view. I kept my fingers crossed, but knowing that our stay included a Thursday and a Friday during F&W, I wasn't holding out hope.

Here's where it gets interesting...

Monday evening, around 5pm, I got home from work and looked at the availability. To my surprise, all three nights were now available in the Boardwalk view. Then, I went to my dashboard and saw that my wait list was gone!! I still showed a confirmed reservation for the P/G view, but I was very hopeful that my wait list was "in process". Since I had to get dinner ready and I was really tired, I didn't bother to call Member Services and I decided to "wait it out" until the next day.

Tuesday morning, around 8:45am, I looked again at my dashboard...same thing:confused:...confirmed P/G 2BR but no wait list showing up...:scratchin I checked the availability again and the room was still showing available for all three nights. Well, now I am just a little concerned so I decided that I would call at 9am, just to get it straightened out.

I called and got through almost right away and explained my situation to the CM. I told him that I had a wait list set up, it seems to have disappeared yesterday, the room is still showing available, but I still do not have a confirmation for that room. He looked at my reservation and said, "They matched your wait list....BUT THEY MATCHED IT WITH A POOL or GARDEN VIEW ROOM":eek::faint: He quickly grabbed the LAST BW View 2BR that was available and booked it for us:banana:. He said that he has no idea what happened, but he could see my wait list had been set up for a Boardwalk View. He could see that it had "matched" and then he said that he could see that "it was somehow 'matched' with a Pool/Garden view by mistake". Ummm...that is one WHOPPER of a mistake.

In the end, disaster was averted and we are spending the final 3 nights of our vacation in Dad's Happy Place...sitting on a bench at the Boardwalk Villas....

The actual change is done by a CM. Looks like the MS CM made a mistake and booked the wrong room category.
