My airtran switch.

I've never flown and after reading here decided to go with airtran. I was a little upset when it would say that a 5:30 flight was open and then when I tried to book it kept saying not available but I went ahead and stuck with the next available flight which would be arriving in Orlando at 7:30. It was later than we wanted but what do you do? So, I got a message yesterday that my flight had been bumped and I would now be arriving in Orlando at 7:55. I really didn't want that because if something were to happen and we got stuck somewhere longer than planned we wouldn't get to do anything that first evening. I called just to see what they could do, not to be a pest. I was nice about it and all because it was less than a half an hour difference. She said, "oh, no problem. We have a flight arriving at 5:42 if that would be ok with you." I was super excited. I told her if it wasn't too much work I would really rather have that one. If I remember right, it was about $16/person more than the one we ended up with but she said that was fine and I didn't have to pay the difference. Now even if they push us back we should end up getting there before we had originally planned.

SkyWest is a small "feeder" airline which flies customers from smaller airports to the hub cities. The services between SkyWest and mainline AirTran are quite varied...

Now that Southwest is buying AirTran, it will be interesting to see if these flights will continue in the future (since SWA does not operate any small "feeder" carriers).
