Arriving December 9th and starting the day at Epcot then finishing out at DHS:

Day One: Lunch at Restaurant Marrakesh. This will be a new experience for us; the only other table-service meal we've had at WS is Biergarten.

Day Two: Lunch at Boathouse. Also a new experience, since Disney Springs was (re)built since our last trip in 2005.

Day Three: Supper at Whispering Canyon Café. Mrs. Homie and I weren't impressed with this place the last time. The food was just OK (and the corn-on-the-cob was straight nasty*), and we were stuck in an obscure corner of the place, away from all the action. We're giving it another try to see if they can do it right this time.

Day Four: Lunch at Tusker House. A new experience for us.

Day Five: Breakfast at Be Our Guest, which is a new experience, obviously. I was ambivalent about this place, especially since the food gets mediocre reviews. But Mrs. Homie said that I can reserve a spot at BoG or reserve a time with the divorce attorney, my choice.

Day Five (part 2): Supper at Skipper Canteen. The menu seems a little... unusual, but I've wanted to try this place ever since I first heard about it.

Day Six: Supper at Boma. Another old favorite.

Also: We're going to imbibe adult beverages a lot more this trip than we usually do. I'm planning on hitting Abracadabar, the 50's Prime Time Café bar, Trader Sam's, Mizner's (where I'll be getting the charcuterie board, mainly because I want to say the word "charcuterie" in public), and Territory Lounge.

What does the DISboard think?

*I grew up in central Illinois. I know from good corn. Whatever swill they're calling "corn" at Whispering Canyon ain't corn.

It all looks great! The bar scene looks fab, too. We really liked Territory Lounge at WL, too. It's very chill and the bartenders have all been fantastic!

I agree with the corn, too. Nothing like fresh Midwestern corn on the cob on a hot summer day! Don't try and give me the pale, watery, mushy crap that was obviously microwaved at one point.

I'm having a hard time finding a cocktail menu for Territory Lounge. I've checked out all of the, ahem, competing message boards and sites, and haven't seen anything except the vague "signature cocktails, beers and wines." What are the signature cocktails? Or should I just stick with my old standby, the Screwdriver?

I believe there is a menu for the Territory Lounge on the Disney website.

Your ADRs sound great except that I would choose lunch or dinner over breakfast at Be Our Guest because the $24 for anything on the breakfast menu sounds like a gyp.

Other than that, I'd say that you did well.

Thanks! I'm on the dining plan, so I'll just use TS credits. No big deal.

Completely agree about the corn. It was awful. I could go either way on WC. We went for the antics and had a disinterested waitress. We ate breakfast at BOG twice in the same week a couple years back. Once was outstanding and the other time was just ok. I like your wife's attitude about BOG. The food could be awful and I will still drag the husband in there every trip. Or else. Those look like great choices! Enjoy your trip!

When Mrs. Homie and I first tried to choke down that nasty-[butt] corn, I mentioned that our upbringings in the Midwest almost certainly clouded our view of what good corn is. I wonder if other visitors from other parts of the country have picked up the differences in local produce vs. Florida produce. Like, are people from California grossing out about the avocados? Are Kansas and Oklahoma people despairing about the beef?

Also from IL and agree, I do not buy or order corn anywhere now that I am not near there

Sweet Corn Season is coming up in a few weeks, and all of my fam around here are placing their orders for when I go to Illinois and pick up a few bushels of farm-fresh corn. I call it "roadside corn," because you can't drive half a mile without finding a farmer selling sweet corn off the back of his truck. It's farm-to-table cuisine in the most literal possible sense.

Your post makes me want to discuss the use of the word "supper." I love that kind of dialect dissection stuff though...

What's the draw to WCC if it sucked the first time? Not in a mean way, just curious why you'd choice it over any number of other delicious choices on property? I mean, Spice Road Table is BY FAR my favorite regular TS if you're looking for unsolicited suggestions:) Those types of dining establishments make me anxious to think about - but that's a "me" thing. I like quiet, calm, food focused dining experiences, and I know that not everyone is like me. (And, I'm judgy about food in general...)

I don't care for buffets, but it sounds like you choose the ones widely considered the best on property. Honestly, Boma has even made me consider it.

I'm so hoping ya'll scored a PPO BOG breakfast. My next trip - maybe in a month or so depending on how things work in my person life - I'd love to do this and will happily pay whatever they're charging (and the poached egg thing actually looks good) to eat in the castle before the park opens.

If you're doing adult beverages, PLEASE try Bluezoo. Its hands down the best mixologists on property, but you've got some good ones on your list. Also, the lounge at HBD wasn't on your list and is quality.

I love your charcuterie comment. I swear to god if you're on the dating scene you eat more of these and cheese boards than any heart doctor would consider reasonable.

Here where I live (is Missouri the Midwest? the Upper South? Who knows) the words "dinner" and "supper" are used interchangeably, as are the words "dinner" and "lunch." I can't stand that kind of ambiguity, so I just say "lunch" and "supper."

Mrs. Homie is of the opinion that we were just the unfortunate victims of poor timing and unreasonable expectations. She hopes that, this time, we'll be seated in the heart of the action, unlike last time. Also, we'll just leave the nasty corn on the plate, lol.

I love your charcuterie comment.

Thanks! I try to throw in some levity whenever possible.

Also, thanks for the Bluezoo recommendation. I'll try to squeeze it in. What's HBD?

HBD = Hollywood Brown Derby and yes, that's a great lounge! I also highly recommend cocktails at the Polynesian's Tambu Lounge. The Lapu Lapu is the stuff rum-soaked dreams are made of. :) I really like Trader Sam's as well, but Tambu has more of an old school Poly vibe about it. Most of the bartenders have worked there for years!!

I must also say how thrilled I was to see your use of the word "supper." We use a lot here in MA, though with our delightful accents it sounds more like "suppah."

Looks good but if you didn't like WC last time I doubt it'll be much better this time. Maybe you'd have a better table but I doubt the food has improved. Too many other good choices to waste your DP credits here.

Sounds good. We like Be Our Guest & have not found the food to be at all bad. Not worth the high price, maybe, but that's not the same thing as it being bad. I don't think you'll be wishing that you'd chosen divorce after eating it.

Re the corn on the cob not being anything like you get in the midwest...I feel your pain. I'm from Texas, & when I leave the state & eat "barbeque" anywhere else...Well, let's just say that it isn't really barbeque, but I'll be a good sport and eat it.

The problem here is that this was not Aaron's decision. This was Leslie's. And as the old saying goes, "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."

don't worry about skipper canteen. Very good food for a good price for table service. I don't usually go back to table service meals at wdw. Since I like to try them all out. But will definitely be back to skipper canteen.

I like a lot of your choices:
  • Marrakesh is good, great decor and a welcome, cool break from the park. I love the hot mint tea service . . . poured at a height into your glass and I always enjoy the roast lamb meshoui but sometimes they also offer the sultan's feast for 1 credit at lunch. Do check out the correspondence between George Washington & Morocco framed on the wall near the check-in podium. Gorgeous restaurant. Never busy. High ceilings so cool air circulates;
  • Boma is a classic and a perennial favourite. Enjoy. Best dinner buffet on property. Don't miss the zebra domes at dessert. Do check out the animals behind the resort either before or after dinner. The lobby as well as the resort gift shops are well worth checking out;
  • I agree with PPs. I'd sub out BOG breakfast for lunch asap. Lunch is much better quality. Breakfast is rushed because you will want to get out & get on the rides. Early pre-park opening used to be the only reason to make a BOG breakfast ADR. I did this last year & it worked out incredibly well. My food was garbage but I got a jump on 7DMT. However, WDW has been messing both with MK opening times plus changed park opening so that guests are now in the hub. BOG breakfast is no longer worth it IMO; and
  • Skippers: lots of choices on the menu. You can go as exotic or tame as you wish. Sounds like you are on the dining plan? If so, the strip steak is OK & many love the char siu pork. When you check in, ask to be seated in the S.E.A. room or library. If you have to wait 5 or 10 mins, its well worth it for decor & atmosphere.

Lunch, supper, tea, and dinner just reminds me of my British friends/colleagues and then my very southern grandparents and our ambiguity as to meals within the English langague. I'm very firmly in the camp that the only meals that exist in the US are breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, but I LOVE the discussion of such!

Bluezoo manhattans and froufrou martinis, and actually non froufrou martinis, are just top notch.

Hollywood Brown Derby lounge - great respite from the heat in the shade, excellent tapas style food, and drinks. I enjoy the people watching.

ETA: I don't know squat about the dining plan so I don't know how that influences my recommendations. I did it once years ago when we were staying at the CR anyway and they gave it to us. I ever living hated eating that way. NEVER again.
