My 7 Month Vacation as a WDW Intern: MINI UPDATE 12/10

Wow...I can't believe its time to go back now. Seems like you just arrived home! The pictures from your mom's birthday are awesome! Glad to hear you had a great time out with your family! :goodvibes

Great update. Sounds like you had a lot of fun.:)

thanks we did!!

Looks like a fun time was had by all! It's good that you were able to have all this great quality family time before you take off.

Continued good luck with all of your memorizing. When I was memorizing things for college, things that I had to remember exactly, I would say it all on tape and then play it back over and over and over until I perfected it. I put it in the car and played it every time I was driving, too, instead of listening to any music.

I hope you have a great last day with your family. It might be worth ten bucks to do a little time with your mom at the pool and got to the Disney recital, since it is the last day.

Enjoy your turkey dinner!

Our countdown is now less than two weeks. Two weeks from today, we're scheduled to spend the day at Hollywood Studios for the last day of Star Wars weekend. We know little to nothing about Star Wars, but we want to see the special parade and the characters dressed up. We like to be in on anything Disney special. We've done St. Patrick's Day, Easter week, Thanksgiving week, Christmas, Food and Wine Festival, and Flower and Garden Festival, and in a couple of weeks we'll be adding Star Wars Weekend and Fourth of July to the list. I could kick myself a thousand times over for not planning to be there on Animal Kingdom's tenth anniversary celebration. I was not happy with me for missing out on that! :( It would have been so cool to hear Joe Rohde and Jane Goodall.

Prayers and good thoughts go out to you for safe travel to Florida.

P.S. Happy Birthday to your mom! I was fortunate enough to be able to spend my 50th in Disney World last summer. This summer, #51 will see me back at home from our trip still in Disney withdrawal. Such sadness.

Thanks for all the kind words!! I sadly had to work during the AK anniversary but a friend of mine went and said she had a good time. My dad had to use a voice recorder when he fell skiing and temp. paralyzed his arm and hand so he gave it to me since he's now 98% better :) It does help. I go through and highlight the words that I miss or replace with another word. It is a great tool. I think I will record it and listen to it on the plane!

Sounds like a fun weekend.

Glad the scripts are going well.

Good luck with packing!!!

Hoping you have a safe & easy flight down!

Thanks for the kind words!

Hi!:wave2:

I just found your TR about your CP at BBB a couple of days ago. How nice to find another about your upcoming PI.
My DD is thinking of applying to the CP for the fall of 2009, it is so nice to find that you enjoyed your experience so much. Good luck with you PI, I am sure that with your great attitude that it will go well and you will have a fantastic time!

Welcome!!:cool1: If your DD has any questions let me know. I had MILLIONS before my CP. Some of it is a wait and see but other things are very easy to answer!

1 more day!!!:cool1:
I hope you had a great Father's Day/ Mom's birthday celebration.
Did you go to the dance recital? How was it?

Thanks..we had a great day!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!

Happy Father's Day to your family of dads, I hope they had a great day!

I must admit, (my parents will admit it too), we are usually on vacation for Father's Day. It's just easy bc my parents anniversary is the 13, and then father's day, and my moms bday on the 19th. Last year we were also home bc we had taken our FL trip in May but every summer before that we have spent it on vacation...I like the old trend better lol.

Today was an uneventful day for us. Mom, Dad, bro, and I got up and went to 9:30 church. We drove the whole way home and decided to go to Panera for lunch. We went home after that and my mom and I went to the mall to return some things and to Walmart for some things.

Around 3:30, Dad and bro went golfing and mom and I headed to the dance recital at my high school. I danced from 1990-2000 and every recital I had at our Intermediate High (grades 9 and 10) and this year it was at the Senior High (grades 11 and 12). It was soooo weird having it there!!
My dance school is famous for 2 things: The best dancers in our county and 5 hour recitals. I kid you not. That dance school is out to get girls and lots of them. They do that nasty trick where they start your 4 year old off w/tap and ballet and then add this and that and before you know it you are spending loads of money and spending tons of time there. The recitals: mine normally lasted 3 to 3 1/2 hours. This one today...well at intermission it was 3 hours long..and they had 48 numbers before and 35 after so my mom and I left...I had had my fill lol.

When I quit, I was considered competition 3 (4 is the highest) and I was taking Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Character, Modern, and Pre-pointe. They wanted me to add 2 classes in addition to those so I quit. I was 15 and did not want this as my career so I quit and started to play tennis lol. Our groups were great..gold medal groups but it just wasnt fun anymore :(

It was nice to relive 10 years of my life! My fav dance that I saw was from competition 4 and they did a modern/lyrical dance to He Lives In You from the Lion King 2. I loved it and they did a wonderful job. I now have the song stuck in my head.

After we got home at 7:30, I'm starting to work on some laundry and I'm going to run some of my script here. My mom keeps asking how much I have to pack...Well... with 2 suitcases I can only pack so much lol.

That is it for now, I'll have an update tomorrow night before my big adventure begins on Tues!!!

Stay Tuned!

Hi Megan! I have enjoyed reading your report! It seems like you and I have a lot in common. I am a teacher (for many years...first grade!) and I worked at Disney while I was still in college and lived in Kissimmee that summer. It wasn't considered a College Program or Intership then...we just drove up the hour and a half, applied at the employment center and got hired on the spot! I worked mostly in the shops on Main Street and it was truly a magical summer. We lived in Disney housing, my best friend and I, and it was a converted Ramada Inn that they just rented to Disney employees for the summer. We had a blast and I was so sorry when it was over. Still consider it the best job I ever had, although I have enjoyed my teaching career, too, it just isn't "Disney!" Have a wonderful internship and teaching will be there when you get ready. Thanks again for sharing your plans...makes me want to do it all over again!!

Hope today goes well for you and you get your script done. WOW a 3 hour 1st act for a dance recital is sooo long those poor backstage moms :) I just went to my daughters and it was 2 1/2 hours and done Lyrical is my fav to watch Her recital had quite a few songs from High School Musical so of course I loved the disney theme too Have a safe flight and keep us informed good luck

Hey Megan!! It sounds like an awesome Weekend! After reading about your trip to the zoo, I was inspired to take my family. The visit with family and meal out look great too! What a wonderful dance experience it sounds like you had. I took ballet for three years and was always fascinated by people who did more! I hope the final packing goes well!

Ah, Megan...dance recitals... I have 6 daughters and have spent the last 14 years in dance studios. Only 3 still dance, and a fourth was a pommie last year, kinda dance, right? Anyway, I attended 3, yes 3, dance recitals yesterday. Ugh. And they were not all in the same theater, so I was going back and forth between two towns 20 minutes apart.

My 8 year old is VERY good--has natural turn out, and she is taking (with her 11 year old sister) at the BEST ballet studio in the area. Problem is, they only do ballet, so we take Irish and Jazz at another studio, which my daughter loves.

So we started with the Irish recital, drove like maniacs so she could dance in Coppelia, and then back so she could do Jazz. It was crazy, and I won't do it again.

The girls start ballet camp next week. 4 hours a day, 3 days a week. They love it, or I wouldn't do it, but it is hard on me driving back and forth.

Normally,I am at some dance studio 4 days a week. When my 18 year old was in school, at one point it was 6 days a week. You have to love it to keep going that much. If you don't, then you have to move on for your sanity.

I am on board for this report. Sorry I am getting on so late. Hoepfully I will get a chance to finally meet you in November. Good luck with everything!!!! Have safe Disney travels.

Hi Megan. I can't believe tomorrow is the big day. You must be so excited.

I want to wish you the best of luck. I know you will do a fantastic job. Enjoy this experience of a lifetime!!!!:thumbsup2

I look forward to reading all about your adventures.

Well Dis...

I guess this will be my last post before I head to WDW.

My day has been eventful and busy. I got up and went to Pittsburgh w/my mom and bro for his MRI follow up (he was playing roller hockey and popped his knee cap out...ouch i know!) Since we both went/go to the college that the Pittsburgh Steelers have their summer training camp at...my dad got to know people from the years he worked there and one of the doctors has helped us big time with my ankle injury my senior year of college and now my brothers knee problem. Anyways, after about a 5 mins convo of how my bro needs therapy and the MRI is clean, we got the script and left. Woulda been nice to save an hour trip with gas being $4.00 a gallon!

On our way home we stopped off at my best friends DMIL so I could say bye to her and her DD3. I have spent the most time with them while I've been home. My BF even txted me later and said her DD was cryiing bc she misses me and wants to know if my mom is with me, lol. I will miss them tons but they are coming to see me end of sept/oct for 10 days so I'm looking forward to that already :cool1: ::yes:: :bitelip: :hyper:

When we got home I went to the post office to mail my pkgs to my house in FL and mailed in my transcripts for the FL Dept of Ed. After that I went to the bank to switch some $$$ around to write my rent check.

For dinner, my mom made her traditional Thanksgiving dinner..for 2 reasons
1. I won't be home for Thanksgiving
2. I wanted a good meal that I can remember having cuz who knows when I'll have another home cooked meal from my mom!

After cleaning up dinner I finished packing, updated my IPOD, and watched tv with my mom and dad.

My parents are preparing for bed. We're leaving for Pittsburgh airport at 4:45am. Apparently there is construction where we usually drive (our short cut) so it might take an hour to get there as opposed to 40 mins. My flight is at 7:15. As of right now it is on time :cool1: I'll be heading to Atlanta and then down to Sarasota and taking the limo car (a personal driver in a car not a limo lol) to my aunt/uncles house and getting in my car and driving the hour 1/2 up to WDW. I really hate the fact that a direct flight from Pgh to MCO is normally 2.5 hours and I'll be in the planes for 5 hours bc of connections. What makes it worse is when I do get to my car, I'll have to drive up to WDW..more hours sitting lol.

Right now I'm holding up pretty well. No tears as of yet but there will be a flood tomorrow....can I take mascara on an airplane??!!!

If anyone knows PLEASE let me know ASAP so I can repack it lol.

As of right now, I have 3 bags: 2 rolly suitcases and my backpack (carry-on). As long as both rolly's are under 50lbs, I'll have just that to deal with, if not I'll be the silly girl at the airport unpacking EVERYTHING to shift weight lol.

Thanks for all the prayers and safe travel replies. I thank everyone for sticking through me throughout my CP and now my PI. I'm going to be the girl that is TOO EXCITED TO SLEEP!!!!!!

Excited, nervous, scared, sad, I'll have all emotions.

Excited to get back to see my friends, nervous bc ever since 9/11 I have been fearful of airplanes even though I've been flying since I was 6mos old, scared of what's ahead, and sad to leave my family since I don't know for sure when I'll see them...

I guess in some ways its good I'm flying bc I can't dwell on theh fact I'm saying bye bc I have to go through security before I get to my gate so I'll have to recompose (sp?) my feelings and emotions to head off to the plane.

Thanks to everyone for reading. I love all the support I have. I'll try and update tomorrow night to let everyone know I'm there safe. I believe there is wireless in my room :cool1:

Take care!!!!

Have a safe trip, Megan! :goodvibes You know we'll all be thinking of you and looking forward to an update when you have time! :)

Good luck Megan. I hope you have a safe trip. Thanks for bringing us all along on this incredible adventure. :) I hope to see you in July.

yes, you can take your mascara, but it has to be in a quart ziploc bag and put on top of your other stuff in security!

     to you for tomorrow! Know we will all be sending you tons of love and pixie dust as you begin this exciting new chapter of your life! We fly out on Wednesday, so post as soon as you can...we'll be at AK on Sunday for sure!

I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE REST (oh and my hopeful trip to work for the mouse!)

Keep it up....this is good stuff

Megan I can't believe its been nearly a year since I started following along with you on your CP and now your PI. Like everyone else, I'm so excited for you! Have a safe and uneventful trip down to Disney. That bites about the connecting flights and the driving, but this time tomorrow night you'll be there! I'm soooooo jealous! ::yes::

Megan have a safe trip.

I know it will be hard today to leave again but you will be able to get through it. :goodvibes You have so much to look forward to. You are doing something that is just so wonderful. I know you are going to have the time of your life.

I wish you the best and I can't wait to hear from you again.

ugg...good luck through alanta...I hate that airport...way too big and it seems every plane has a connection through there.
AS for mascara...just don't wear it..thats my motto anyways (plus it bothers my eyes---they tend to swell if parts of the mascara gets into my eyes and then I rub them) In fact not my last trip to WDW but the trip before that I went to PLanet Hollywood and they must have had some kind of seasonings on their fries because once we got back to POR my eyes had completely swollen up. I have issues with my eyes..can ya tell??:rotfl2:

Hi Megan,
I just found your TR. I love it. My CP days were some of the best so much so I did it twice and almost did a PI but I opted for law school instead. I bet the PI would have been more fun :)

Ironically enough, I live very close to Greensburg, PA these days and work in downtown Pittsburgh. I can't wait to hear more.
