He knows there is a Mummy ride at Universal that will be there when we go next week and thats ALL he has been talking about going on. We have never been on it but he loved Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain in Disney but this one well...I am little nervous. Has anyone taken their children that young on? I checked out the link for the rides for kids thread. I will go on first but just curious to how young your kids were when they went on? He is over 45" tall. thank you! :)

If he loved Splash and Big Thunder Mtn. he should be just fine with the coaster portion of the ride. The drop on Splash Mtn. is MUCH higher than anything on The Mummy. The only difference would be the Mummy's uphill launch. It's not as intense as the launch on The Hulk or on RockN'Roller Coaster but it is quick. I would think most kids would find it exciting, not frightening.

That being said, the ride is not all coaster and the "psychological thrill" portion might be a bit intense for a 5 year old. The animatronic mummy is very realistic although nothing jumps on or into your car. It's what you're seeing all around you in the dark.
How does he handle the Haunted Mansion? The lighting is approx. at that level but what you're seeing is much more intense.

The good news is that you'll be sitting right next to him. There are four seats to a row so if you put him in one of the two middle seats he won't be right next to the "spooky stuff". You also can hold his hand during the ride, the seats are configured to allow that. I know this because I actually held my 10 year old son's hand the first time he rode! (Don't tell him I said that;) )

Hope this helps. Have a fun trip.

My daughter was 6 when she went on Mummy last month. She was fine, not scared, and begged for multiple rides.

Truly, its not that scary. Its fairly tame coaster wise, and the effects are pretty cool. Some adults were more scared than she was.

I would check the height requirement. In your post you said 45". I think (and I could be wrong) that the height requirement for this is 48. I think its 44 for Dudley and Popeye though.

For Revenge Of The Mummy you must be at least 48".

Thanks for clearing that up. My daughter is 49 inches, so she made them all.

My son was just measured today for his annual physical. He is 47 1/2 inches in his stocking feet. We don't go until Feb, so I am no longer worried about the height restriction. He is seven and doesn't flinch at Jason movies. He can't wait to ride this...

It was 48" at one time, but that was many years ago.

Ok, I was not imagining that a height requirement was different. My old foggy brain thought it was 44 though.

Was it 48 say in 2001? That was my first trip, and thats when I thought it was higher.
