my 5/24 avis rate went up!

i went online to check my rate today and it has gone from $30 to $40.99--the customer service person said
"well, you modified your reservation today"--right! i would willingly pay more money for the honor of renting
with avis! what do i do now? i have the printed confirmation for $30--will they honor that????

If you modified the ressie today, that is what will be in the computer, so, I doubt they will honor the one for 30.00 per day. They will know you modified.
You could try your luck with Priceline, I got a rental from Avis 17.00 per day (base rate) for a group d car. Should be a Monte Carlo or similar. Total with taxes and pricelines 5.95 fee was 164.00 for the week. I started with 15.00 per day for an Intermediate, they rejected that so I went for 17.00 per day for the "standard" and got it. It is a lot less than what I have been seeing people get for the same size and same rental agency. I am going in mid Sept. if that makes any difference.
