My 2026 DVC stays: CCV cabin

Great trip report. We’ve been going to WL for almost 30 years and love it. I remember when boulder ridge opened. We were not dvc then and copper creek was not even an idea. We were at the bus stop one day and some people were at the bus stop going on and on about how great boulder ridge was. My husband was rolling his eyes. Here we are many years later and are those people going on and on at the bus stop.
We’ve never stayed in the cabins but they sound spectacular.

One thing about leaving out of Miami/Lauderdale for a cruise. We’ve done the spend the night before the cruise in Miami thing twice and would never do it again. All the hotels are disgusting there. Or at least the two we stayed in (pre covid). So insanely overpriced too. We stay dvc in Orlando and drive in the morning of the cruise, park at the port. I know most people advise against this but as long as you leave early in the morning you are fine. If you fly to Orlando, there is always the Bright line train which looks great. You could do that day of as well, but you couldn’t pay me to spend the night in Miami. Once we walked into a hotel room there that had drugs in the room. Nightmare.

I have had the goal of staying in all the DVC resorts, but after staying at Wilderness Lodge, I could easily just stay there and nowhere else. I'm sure I'll stay at other resorts, but the desire to stay at all of them is gone now. I like the natural setting and feeling of being out of way and not part of a bigger more chaotic resort. I'm sure if I had terrible weather and had to walk from the cabins to the main building often I'd feel differently about it, but it was a really great stay.

I've decided that I won't cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale again. It's just way too icky feeling. And the way the hotel staff acted like it was totally normally to have a disgusting uncleaned room like that speaks to the overall vibe of the area. DCL still hasn't responded to my email asking for compensation for the stay there. I got the initial bot reply that someone would contact me. Still waiting and not a good look for DCL. I've cruised with them 8 times and I have 3 booked right now. The longer it takes them to reply, the more I realize that I don't need cruise. At least not with DCL.
