I just realized my 180's out is Easter Sunday. Will I still be able to make my reservations? Also, any advice on how to plan? I am finding planning 6 months in advance very hard. We are on the dining plan 2 adults - 3 kids 5, 3, 17 months. Lots of character meals is my thought.

I would agree, and I'm not sure what your asking about the 180 days and if you can still make reservations. Once you hit 180 days (and I'm not exact on what that means, I would call the dinning line to know for sure)out your allowed to start making your ADR's, any time after that you can keep making changes and plans with your ADR's. But the longer you go from the 180 days out your going to have a harder time getting the ADR's that you want, that includes the times. I would suggest the earliest times the better for you because of the ages of the kiddos, that is unless you've got night owls for kiddos, then later hours would be great for you! :)

You don't want to miss character meals with the ages of your babies, I personally like with little ones to do the breakfasts, they are awake and not on the verge of being cranky. LOL Well most kids anyway. LOL (wouldn't have worked with my daughter) :sad2:
Crystal Palace is so cool for everyone, (In the MK) pooh is there along with some of his gang, and if I were you I would get the earliest time they have 8:05 a.m. for this one, you'll get into the park before it opens as long as it's not Early Morning Hours (EMH) this way you'll have the Castle and Main St. to yours selves, well... almost. ;) This way you get pictures infront of the Castle without all the people in the picture!
Next on my list would be:
1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian~
My personal choice for times is about two hours out from closing, this way it's relaxed and we get more time with the Characters, the breakfast characters are Alice in Wonderland, The Mad tea hatter, Pooh and Tigger, and Mary Poppins out in the Hall way. This was a lot of fun, even with our 14 yr. old. But of course your time is best known by you on what you can and can't do with the kids.

BTW both of these places have very good buffet's, not to mention the atmoshpere of where you are can't be beat.
You could have breakfast family style at Ohana's with Lilo and Stitch which is at the Poly.
Dinner's are vast, so I'm not sure what to recommend there for kids here except for of course!
Chef Mickey's! It's in the Contemporary Resort.
1900 Park Fare again for dinner with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremain(Cindy's wicked step mother) and the two evil step sisters. Which I hear is soooo much fun.~also hard to get if you don't make the ADR's quickly~
There is also character meal at the Cape May Cafe, with Goofy, Minnie and Chip and Dale, I think the breakfast is the only character part, dinner isn't.
You could also do the Princess Storybook in Norway (Epcot) @ Akershus Castle, I hear this is a family style breakfast served, but the princess can't be beat. Hope that helps.

I will also be making my ADR's this Sunday and yes, they will be open even if it is Easter. I also agree with Millie, you can't miss a character meal! My daughter loves these! She will be 4 this trip and is already talking about eating with Mickey at Chef Mickey's. Another one that we don't miss is the Play and Dine at the Studios. It's a buffet at Hollywood and Vine and has the Little Einsteins and JoJo and Goliath. If your kids are really into Playhouse Disney, then they would like this one! Good luck in getting your ADR's!

My 180th day is a Saturday. I'm assuming if they take ADRs on Easter Sunday, then a Saturday is also fine. Now for a harder question. How in blazes does one make up their mind about where to go for which meal!? I'm going to WDW with my hubby and two kids, ages 9 and 11 in Oct. We got the DDP. Everyone is a good eater. No major preferences. Should I try to have my TS meals in the park where I am, instead of traveling to another? Should I pick a certain TS meal as a breakfast, over a cs meal as a dinner. Is there a way to figure this out? My spreadsheet is just dyin' to be filled in! (And I can't get any park hrs, parades, events or EMHs until April 1st. They only go up to Sept. on all the websites). I'm So confused! Any recommendations are welcome.--Peg

I found it best with kids that age, esp one that wont' be on the plan, that buffets could cover everyone's tastes and varying appetites. It may not be the best *value* or maximizing the plan but it does work well with small kids.

and as a bonus you know ahead of time what your tip is and can be ready to go a lot quicker.

Our 180 day is also this weekend! Here's to everyone getting what they want :)

here are my thoughts...

skip the buffets if you can... w/three little kids, mom/dad will not get to eat in peace, will not get to eat their food while it's hot, and will likely not enjoy it very much...

go for the family style character meals as they are less hectic (a relaxing meal is far better for everyone than wild craziness imo), the food is typically better and the character interaction is typically better/more personalized...

as far as planning goes... we never leave one park to go to another for a meal (we will, however, leave a park and go to a nearby resort for a meal)... we try to figure out first which park on which day (we like to start w/MK and end w/MK and then let the rest fall in place)... i typically use the crowd calendar at www . touring pl@ns. com and www.tourguidemike.com to get a handle on that aspect of things... and then select my restaurants based on location, location, location!

i choose our more out of the way restaurants for our "down" days (pool, shopping, water park, etc)...

good luck :)

How did everyone do? We called yesterday and got almost everything we wanted. There are a couple that have to wait until Monday. Yak & Yeti has to be exactly 180 days out. Since our trip is 12 days we couldn't make ressies for the last 2 days. We got CRT! for breakfast! That is where we are going to celebrate my sister's 40th bday :)

Called today and discovered Canada was booked with no openings for 3 of our 10 nights :scared1:
WOW !!!!
Did manage to get 2 other nights !:thumbsup2
