Hello all at WISH,
You've been an incredible inspiration to me this year, and I thank all of you for your love and support. There were so many times when I was glad to be on WISH because you're all so supportive without sniping.
As some of you know, I had gastric bypass surgery a year ago today. It's been one heck of a year, I'll tell you that! I've been through my Mom and Step-Dad's divorce, my husband and I are the primary caregivers of my little niece Haley (who turned 1 on June 8), and we have our 18 yo ds. It hasn't been an easy year, but it's definitely been interesting.
There is a board for people who have had surgery - it's called Obesity Help. I pretty much stopped hanging out there because of the people who would harp on others, snipe, name-call - you wouldn't believe it! I NEVER see any of that here - everyone is supportive, and that's the way it should be! I update my profile on OH just to help others who are considering having the surgery. I know that for me it was helpful to read profiles of people who started out at a similar weight and see how I compared. However, I have never felt as good as I have on WISH. You guys are the best!!!!
If someone had told me a year ago that I'd be planning to walk the 1/2 marathon, I would have told them they were nuts. Yet I can easily do my 10,000 steps a day and I am more active than I've been since high school.
I guess God knew today was going to be a big anniversary for me, because I'm a whole 3 lbs. lighter than I was on Sunday - very unusual for me at this part of my journey. I started at 328, I am down to 192. I know that it's a starting point for me, but for me it's a return to normalcy, to health and to being who I am supposed to be.
With that I would like to share my 1 year pix with you. I hope they came out right.
Love you all,
Adele
