MVMCP ?

We have been to MNSSHP before, but have never done this one. We will be in WDW early Nov, and it will happen two of the nights we are there. I am considering getting tix, it seems like something to do at least once. DS will be 13 and has been to MK several times, so we thought maybe this would be a way to hit a few of our fav rides, see the parade and give my mom a chance to see MK decorated for Christmas. Are there certain rides not open during party? Besides parade & fireworks, what are some highlights (maybe geared to the age of my son)?

As far as Christmas decorations are concern, they will be up in MK even if you don't go at MVMCP.

With that being said, the party is really nice. I prefer the Halloween one better, but we still try go at the Christmas one every two or three years.

One of the highlights, if you like characters, is that some of them are out in special outfits while some very rare characters are out too!

I too prefer the Halloween party, but I think it's something you should experience at least once. The park is beautifully decorated and almost all the rides are open. Considering the little to no waits for the rides makes the price for the parties worth it for us. We went to 2 parties last year and enjoyed them very much

If you mom is interested in Christmas decor, I highly recommend that she do a self-tour of the hotels, they are done up in spectacular themed wonderness! No extra decorations are put up just for the parties.....those that are up during regular park hours are the same as the parties.

If Christmas is Mom's highlight, be sure she spends time in EPCOT.....Candlelight Processional, Holidays Around the World, and more. In my personal opinion, there is more holiday doings in EPCOT than in any other park. ALL the parks, however, are decorated to the brim for the holidays.

If your mother would enjoy seeing Christmas at Disney then MVMCP is a great way to do so. While the MK is decorated at this time of year, there are shows, snow on Main Street, and of course the parade at the party that can't be seen otherwise. As far as your 13 year old enjoying it - lines for rides & attractions are short, shows are fun, and the parade....well I love it- and let's just say I'm a little older than 13! I would definitely recommend experiencing it. We often visit during the Christmas season and always get tickets. We never get tired of it!

I will suggest that if you decide to go try to buy your tickets in advance. Last season there were many nights that sold out.

I didn't see anybody mention the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
They will be in operation starting the second week of November.

They are considered by many fans to the the top of the peak in WDW Christmas decorations.

How far in advance would you buy? I'd like to wait until I book my ADRs on June 1. Do they usually sell out earlier than that?

They will begin sales in early April. Definitely agree that you should buy ahead of time to avoid being disappointed. Have a wonderful time!

If OP is going in early November, many of the hotels will not be decorated yet. We were there Nov. 15-22 last year and most of the hotels were not decorated. The gingerbread house was ready at GF, but no other decor was up--I think it went up overnight from Nov. 21-22 (same with Coronado).

Last year was the earliest I ever bought our tickets. If I remember correctly I bought them in the summer for December. I know it was after my ADR date which was June. I think you will be fine waiting until your ADR date.

We did the MVMCP in 2013 and it was like a dream come true for us commandos! Ride, ride, ride all night! Worth every cent of the hard ticket price!

The only thing we didn't care for was the "Jingle Cruise" Jungle Cruise. It was the only ride with a line. It consisted of the Jungle Cruise with lame Christmas jokes and one of the headhunters had a light-up Christmas necklace on. That was it! We waited 30 minutes to ride it thinking there would be a bit more to it since it was advertised in the party flyer. Live and learn!

We did it during our first trip to Disney world the Friday before Thanksgiving. I think it was actually the first party of the season that year. Out of my whole trip that week, it was by far the most crowded I had ever seen any of the parks. Way oversold on tickets. I didn't consider it worth the price.

During the party I try to do Party specific things like seeing characters that are not normally available. i.e. the 7 dwarfs, Jack Skellington, etc. You cant miss Holiday Wishes Fireworks and make sure you get hot chocolate and cookies. Also I would go to Osbourne Lights display at Hollywood Studios Its Phenomenal and Free. according to Touringplans.com Osbourne lights return on November 6 this year.
