I think your family would have a great time. You may get there early 5:30 and they usually send your family to one area of the park-it was TomorrowLand when we went. They asked that we stayed there until 7:00, because they start clearing the day guests by 6:00. We rode Buzz Lightyear and did a few other things over there un til 6:45. In fact we did everything that was open in that area, but did not see the show. We then went to Fantasyland around 6:50 and did all their rides by 7:45 and had our free picture taken. We then ate and it was not crowded because everyone else was in line for rides. After eating, we went to the other side and saw the snow, parade and fireworks.
When we went, they did not run the Christmas parade on normal hours during the week. The only way to see the Christmas parade was to go to the party or they ran it on a weekend.
