Just curious for those who've attened, the Christmas Party, is it worth paying extra for? I read on allears, that you will basically see all of the decorations at MK anyway, but you will get the MVMCP parade & a special Wishes showing? I was looking at 2005 prices, and it cost more than MNSSHP (which btw I thought was worth every penny).

Also, anyone know why it cost more on Friday night rather than a Sun-Thur ticket??

TIA, I plan to read thru the sticky at the top of the page, just wanted some quick opinions..

We went to this last year and i must say one time is enough...it was soo crowded..we didnt get to do half the stuff they offered....the parade was great...but for the amount of money you spend ...like i said once is enough....the decorations are there all thru the christmas season...so why pay to see them....also we went very early in the month..like the first week of december so i cant imagine what the crowd levels would be like later on in the month..

I'm still wondering about the extra $5 charge for Friday nights. I had ordered tickets from home for Thursday, Dec. 8th, but it rained that whole day and we changed our tickets for Friday, Dec. 9th. CM told us it would be an extra $5 charge for each ticket. I couldn't believe it! We could have done it on Sunday, the 11th, but that was our last night and I didn't want to do it on our last night in a park. I paid the extra money, but it still bugs me a little!! I guess they do it because they know more people come on Friday (the party also did sell out that night) and they will make more money. I have been to Disney World many many times and I feel that was the one occasion that I was "ripped off" for lack of a better phrase. It was, however, my choice to attend on that night. We had a great time and I'm glad I attended the party. I had always wanted to go to MCVCP and I never thought I would visit Disney at Christmas. It was one of my best Disney vacations ever.

We went on Sun Dec 11th. I think it was worth every penny. :flower: While it did seem crowded we were able to walk on most rides. We had a great spot for the parade, right on Main st and Wishes was fabulous. I would definitely recommend going to MVMCP. :goodvibes The only thing we didn't like was the Dec weather. :cold: :teeth:

We went to MVMCP in December 2004, and I thought it was worth every penny. We were there on December 17th (a Friday night), and it wasn't very crowded at all. We were able to do all of the Christmas stuff, plus ride Big Thunder Mountain twice in the front seat without getting off--I loved it. I would definitely do it again! I would imagine, though, that it is chaotic during a crowded time--like the week after we were there. :)

Been There, Done that, not impressed at all. We will never waste our money again!

Yes we think its worth it. We love MNSSHP and MVMCP. I wouldnt pass either one up. Friday nights are more popular, and more crowded. You would be better off with another night, say a Sunday or a Tuesday.

Love it! And I don't really like the Halloween Party!

This is the first year I have missed in several years and I was very disappointed.

Now, I don't go to do rides and with planning I get to see all the shows and parades!

FYI, the special Christmas parade that is for MVMCP only, is actually run in the afternoon the day after the last party. So, if it's the parade you want, just wait a day or two and catch it for the price of the regular park admission. We went to the party, and it was nice, but crowded, and we decided we wouldn't spend the money again. We got a nice picture and some hot cocoa & cookies, but the lines for the popular rides were "out the wazoo".

Nope. We went twice last year and once this year.

If it is rides that you want to do then hit MK the day of the party then leave when the party starts. We did this twice and the park was EMPTY during the day, then as we were leaving the line to get in was incredible. The night we did the party, a Thurs., again no crowd that day but once 4pm came around the crowds were unbelievable. We had done Spectro that Sat. and it was the same type of wall to wall people.

Although the parade is truly lovely, it is not worth $$$$ for 4 people.

I noticed a scheduling change, making it almost impossible to see all of the special events in one evening.

I had fun, but I did not feel like it was worth the ticket cost.

I agree! We went to this year's party on Dec. 1st, and the wait time for Pooh were over an hour, but we were able to ride POC and TTA several times.

I think the party would have been better if they had more rides open, which might have made the wait times lower.

We were at this years party on Dec 18th, It was sold out and the crowd was big.We saw the show at the castle and the night before Christmas show and had some cookies and cocoa and that was about it. We didn t ride anything due to the fact we had been in the park all that day and had done just about evrything. We did see the parade but as someone else mentioned we saw the same parade a couple days later. That particular night the clouds were so thick you could hardly see some of the fireworks. All in all we had a good time because it was Disney but the cost of 5 of us to attend the party was hard to justify once we returned to the room.

It depends. If you have, say, an AP then I don't think the parties are worth it. But if you don't have an AP, and can go to a party *instead* of buying a park ticket that day, it's a great time and a good deal.

We were there on 18th and although we enjoyed the atmosphere and shows the crowds put us off going again. You just couldnt get onto the most popular rides. Also some of the CMs we spoke to asking for various bits of info were none the wiser than ourselves which was a bit annoying. We finally went back to the Town Hall and after queuing for 10 minutes the lady behind the desk gave us the information we were after. We were trying to find out about the free courtesy picture and where to get it done. She showed us two places on the map and said that this year they were not advertising the picture as much as they were phasing it out and this year would probably be the last time we could get this particular freebie.

we went on Tuesday, November 29 of this year & enjoyed it immensely!
we found the park crowd on the light side. we also stayed 'til the last minute, so it had thinned out very much :goodvibes
I don't think we waited more than 20 minutes to go on anything.
there seemed to be a lot more characters around & the lines not too long for those ops
the Pooh ride had a line of 1 hr & change then broke down, we trotted over to ride Peter Pan & Philharmagic & walking back over no wait at all for Pooh! Yup, just walked right on :sunny:
While the lines for the free photos seemed enormous, we were finished within 15-20 minutes.
we didn't do MK that day as we knew we'd be there at night.
there were spots which could be crowded (Main Street, Mickey & Minnie's Christmas show--don't know if that's the correct name, sorry) but once we got out of there, all was just fine.
the fireworks were spectacular! :lovestruc
One of the cool ways to get in early & enjoy yourself is to make ADRs at a sit down, for, say, 6 pm, which, of course has to be done months in advance, but may be worth it to you-
this was our 2nd MVMCP & we loved it!

We personally love to go and it has become a new thing that we do every Nov/Dec trip.

We really like going to the Xmas party.

I would say try it once, if you don't like it then you know. But if you don't try it then you will wonder if you would have.

We went the Tuesday after Thanksgiving 2004 and loved every minute of it. The only line we had to wait in was for those silly little Indy cars near TTA (can't actually think of the name of the attraction and it was my one and only time riding them) Anyone go this same day 2005? What were the changes in scheduling? We are planning to go this same Tuesday in 2006.

I have to say we were a little nervous because we had heard mixed reviews. Then the day of the party (12/8) it rained :umbrella: , LUCKILY when we were ready to head over( 8:30ish) the rain had stopped. We ended up having a great time! The parade and fireworks were amazing! Walked onto most of the rides- Space Mountain, Buzz right on. The only ride that had a really long line was Peter Pan- we skipped it. Our DD 2.9 yrs stayed up until 10:15 ( she fell asleep in the stroller) and DS's 6 & 9 almost closed the park ( 11:30), and even stayed awake for the bus ride back!! If we ever go back in December, we would spend the extra $ and to to the party!! :bounce:
