So, we're buying 7 day passes, no hopping, expiry, cheapest per day possible, discount ticket broker, for our early December trip. What parts of MVMCP will we be missing if we just go to MK on non-MVMCP days?

I have to say the greatest part of the party for us last year was the fireworks. They were amazing!!!! I also really like the "snow" on main street.
My kids has such a great time at MVMCP that they begged us to go to MNSSHP this year. Then I got all mushy and didn't want to break our new tradition of Xmas at WDW, so I booked a Xmas vacation too. 1st thing I did was get my tickets to MVMCP. I'm even tempted to buy tickets for a second night once we get down there, if we're not too tired from all our other stuff.

MVMCP is a separate hard ticket event. So, even if you go to MK on MVMCP days, you won't see/do anything different than if you went on non MVMCP days.

Actually, going to MK on a non MVMCP day, the park MAY be open longer so you would get to stay longer.

You will miss the Christmas shows. There are at least 3 that I can think of. You will miss the special christmas parade and the christmas edition of the fireworks. You will miss the snow on main street and the free cookies and hot chocolate. You will also miss the free photo opportunity. There are usually lots of characters out and about and the lines aren't real long for the rides.

It is expensive, but we had a lot of fun at MVMCP when we went.

None of the activities, shows, and free cookies the above posters are talking about are there during regular park hours. You must pay extra for them. MVMCP is at night after the park closes.

We went to MVMCP one time, and boy, was it crowded!!! We swore we would never do that again, and we even shied away from trying the MNSSHP last week because we were afraid there would be a huge crowd.

If you look for the thread there is one called "official MVMCP 2005" that will have a ton of info on it! I don't know what the poster was thinking saying you wouldn't miss anything. (????) Why would they plan a great event like this and make you pay extra if there wasn't anything special?? :confused3 Don't post about things you don't research! :teacher:

There is snow on Main Street, special shows, free hot chocolate and cookies, tons of characters, later park hours, a special parade and you can ride the rides and buy MVMCP merchandise! It's totally worth it IMO. Look for that thread and you can look at all the info! :wave2:

We loved it in 2003. We went two nights. We went on the day that we arrived, so that we got to start the pixie dust early! The first night was a Sunday. It was just magical. There were hardly any if any lines to ride the rides, we got our cookies and cocoa, we had our picture taken. It seemed like there was a character around every corner. We didn't watch the special version of Wishes that night in the traditional manner, we caught it while riding BTMRR. OMG, it was so amazing. The snow on Main Street added such a sweet touch. If every MVMCP was like this one, I would go to all of them.

Our second MVMCP was on a Friday, it was the last MVMCP of the season, and it was the day before Holiday Season rates were put into effect. The place was PACKED. Yeah, we saw the parade, Wishes (the usual way), a show or two, had a little character fun, got our picture taken, and had our cookies and cocoa. The experience was far less magical than the first night and we swore that we would never do a MVMCP that was sold out again, if we could help it.

This year, we are going on arrival day December 11th with all of my honey's family, with the exception of her Dad & Rosie, her stepmom. We knew that this would not be the best experience because we will be spending time doing what others want to do vs. what we want to do, so yesterday, I bought the tickets for us to go on 12/15 too! I chose to go on the 15th vs. the 13th because the 13th has an AP discount and I saw that lots of people are going that night (by looking at the various Disney message boards) and I wanted to have the best chance at going with a lower crowd count.

If you have the means, I highly suggest it at least once. Maggie

Okay, I've read all of the posts 3 times and I can't find the post you're talking about. Can you please point it out, my reading comprehension stinks. LOL

I reread and got the impression that the poster you are referring to meant that if you go to MK on a MVMCP day but don't do the party everything is still the same as it is on a non-MVMCP day if you don't do the party.

I'm almost positive that this is what was meant. He even posted again to say that none of the activities of MVMCP are available during non-party hours. He was just saying that everything is the same at MK during non-party hours on party days as it is during non-party hours on non-party days.

If I need to make that more confusing, let me know, lol! :earseek:

That was quoted out of post #7.

Also if I understand the OP...they are asking what they would miss at MK durring the DAY on MVMCP days (Durring regular/normal park hours)...not the party itself. It's my understanding that durring the day when a MVMCP is scheduled there is NOTHING diffrent. All these things...snow, special parades, fireworks...are things that go on DURRING the party...NOT durring the day. So YES....you wouldn't be missing ANYTHING if you went to MK durring the day.

Also as another poster mentioned...if you went to MK on NON-MVMCP days the park is probably open later...giving you more time at MK.

From what I hear the partys are wonderful...and well worth the additional money to attend.

You would be missing the snow, the lights, the special parade, and don't forget the fireworks. Oh the free hot coco and cookies. Riding the rides until midnight. Nothing like being the only one on Splash Mt at midnight.. :goodvibes

You'll be missing the unbearable crowds! At least that was our experience ... :rolleyes1

Everyone seems to not understand what betterlatethannever meant by his post. I thought he was just flapping his gums about stuff he didn't know about. LOL. My mistake but it seems to me that everyone took it the same way as I did. I can't believe how many people are saying that it's just so packed. I have heard that it's like low attendance crowds...like January crowds.

I guess we'll just have to wait for DisDon to post to tell us what he meant.

I took the OP to mean that he was going there for regular park hours and was wondering if there was anything of the MVMCP during the REGULAR PARK HOURS.

Agree, the OP asked what part of the MVMCP they would miss if they went on a non MVMCP day. So I guess the answer would be they will miss everything.

We went to MVMCP in early December in 2000...it was PACKED. It wasn't packed at the parks during the rest of the week but that night it was so crowded that it discouraged us from ever going again.

We managed to do 3 things that night: we saw the Christmas parade, the Night before Christmas in Tomorrowland's theatre, and the Horseshoe's Christmas show. I saw part of the fireworks...because some thoughtful person put gum on the bench at Tomorrowland's theatre and it got stuck on my jeans <sigh>. I spent most of the fireworks trying to get it off. A very nice lady who was sitting next to me, helped me try to get it off...and missed most of the fireworks too. She was so nice and I felt so bad that she had to miss them. But I digress...

We didn't do any rides during the party because it was so hard to move around the park. After struggling to move around Frontierland, we had had enough and left the park.

The photo they took of us was ok...except half of my arm is missing. They really should learn how to frame their photographs.

That being said...I really enjoyed the shows and the parade. I really liked the Horseshow show. :)

Our first MVMCP was the very first one of the season a few years back. We didnt get out of Tony's until 7, and it was crowded. I had no idea back then to get there at 4, and then at 6 go hang out in Tomorrowland until the party started at 7. The next year we tried MNSSHP, and it was great. It wasnt crowded at all. The next year we did TWO Christmas parties and both were great. One night we did both parades, pictures, fireworks and rides, the other night we did parades, pictures, fireworks and special christmas shows. Neither time was overly crowded. I have read that FRIDAYS are very crowded, and the parties get more crowded closer to Christmas. This year we have a Tuesday night booked on Nov. 29th. We are seriously considering going to the very first one too.. We love the party. Im even more excited this year as my friend and her kids are going over THanksgiving and seeing the CHristmas decorations for the first time!!!

Thanks for the input everyone, seems like everyone's experience depends on the crowd sizes and how early you get there. My original question was meant to be, "what are the unique things that you only get at MVMCP that you wouldn't get on a non-MVMCP night at the MK?", and whether folks thought it was worth the extra expense. If we could use one of the days on our 7 day pass for MVMCP, I would totally be there, but I'm just having a hard time seeing paying for it on top of the 7 day tickets. And if I'm having a hard time seeing it, it will be impossible to convince DW that we should do it. I guess I want to feel good about not doing it. I'm very excited about the other holiday happenings that we'll be able to experience, the osbourne lights, candellight processional, jingle jungle parade (or whatever its called). Those are all in the other parks, so I guess a followup question would be, "what special holiday things are at the MK besides the MVMCP activities?"

Thanks! :wizard: :earboy2: :disrocks: :rockband:
