MVMCP vs. Regular MK Attractions

I have been to MVMVP once, back in 2003, and I was planning on attending this year, but now I'm wondering exactly what I will see (other than the snow on Mainstreet) that will be unique to the Christmas party?

I know that we won't get the photo, the hot chocolate or the cookies unless we attend the party, however, last time we were there, we DID see the Christmas parade on a non party day so I am guessing we will still be able to see that. I just don't want to spend the additional $170 for my family if there aren't specific, unique shows or events to see.

Can you tell me what is different about the party events vs regular, everyday MK events?

If you go the beginning of December it will be just luck that you get to see the Christmas parade during the day. Its officially only scheduled at the parties and then it replaces the daytime parade AFTER the parties have ended/Christmas Week. So I guess you were very lucky back in 2003; They do sometimes do a showing on the first Saturday in December AFTER the tapping of the parade but its not guaranteed.

Also, during the parties they have at least 2 Christmas shows that are only shown at the parties (until Christmas week); Twas the Night Before Christmas and also the Celebrate the Spirit of the Season at the Castle front. They are both great shows.

Fantasyland Holiday Hop

Then there's the Holidaywishes fireworks that are only guaranteed to be seen at the parties (until the week of Christmas). Of course, sometimes they have an unscheduled showing but its not guaranteed.

Then there's the snow, possibly the souvenir photo (not sure if they are doing it this year) annd hot choc and cookies.

This is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Thanks. In 2003, the day we were there WAS the day they were taping the parade, so that is probably why we saw it. We plan to be in MK the evening of Sat., Dec 2. Is that the day they are taping this year?

Yes, it's always the first Saturday of December unless its postpond due to weather. The actual tapping party is boring, slow and takes hours but as a reward, they usually do the actual Xmas parade when they are all done tapping. That is probably what you saw.

One year, to our surprise, it was moved to Sunday because Regis and Kelly were delayed due to a blizzard up in the NE.
