MVMCP vs. full day

We are only going to be at Disney for 3, maybe, 4 days. I have never done MVMCP so I am really looking forward to this. I had originally planned on one day at MGM, one day at Epcot and one day at MK. Now that I realized that I will be there for MVMCP, I'm wondering if I really need the full day at MK. Maybe the Christmas party is enough to get my MK fix. Any opinions on just doing MVMCP instead of a full day at MK.

That is exactly what a friend and I are going to do. We are going to Universal for 2 1/2 days (staying onsite :bounce: ), then moving over to AKL for 5 nights. We are only going 3 days to parks (and MK is not one of them) and the one night at the MVMCP on 12/9. Not planning on any parks the day after MVMCP, just enjoy our resort and maybe tour some other resorts. BUT, we are two 40+ year old women (man that hurts:( ) and we aren't going with our families this time. We plan on relaxing and drinking wine heavily, ;) just joking.

FYI: I came to this decision after reading you can get into MK at 4:00 p.m. or after for the MVMCP. That's almost 8 hours of theme park time; more than I usually do in one time anyway.

I take it you're a frequent wdw visitor?

You can indeed see quite a bit of MK the night of MVMCP..however, to me the magic of this night is NOT in the attractions...but rather the shows and parade.

You can indeed use your party ticket to gain access to MK before the park closes and the party begins. usually they begin accepting party tickets around 4 pm. check with guest services to confirm the time. We've used the extra 2 hours before park closing to catch some of our favorite attractions and then begin the party shows at 7 PM. One year they left fantasy land up and running between 6-7 PM and we were able to catch almost every attraction in that area in that hour. However, recent years they've sent everyone over to tomorrow land. I think buzz was open last year, but other than that there wasn't much else open until the party began at 7 pm.

enjoy!

I would say it depends on what you want to do at MK. The party is really different than going to MK for the rides and attractions. There are other things to do during the party and you might not take the time to do rides, etc. I could never give up my MK day -- I'm still a kid even though I'm another of those 40+ yo women!

We will be attending MVMCP too, and will be spending the day in Epcot. While I am looking forward to being able to ride some attractions with less lines, I'm more looking forward to the other events of the party... the things that you can't see on a normal day.

As a couple other posters have already said, MVMCP is different than JUST going to MK. We always do MVMCP, sometimes twice, as well as at least one full day at MK during normal hours.

If you are just going for the rides, the lines are typically much shorter and you can get on all the popular rides with very little wait time.

But the real fun is all the Christmas goings on in addition to the normal rides. With all the shows, parades, fireworks, christmas phots, cookies and cocoa, you can spend the entire evening having a great time and only have time for a couple rides.

All depends on what you want to do. That is why we sometimes go twice
