While reviewing all the different shows available at the Christmas party (the parade, fireworks, Night Before Christmas, Celebrate the Season, Belle's storytelling), I came to the realization that it'll be really hard to fit everything in and still have time for the Fantasyland dance party, pin shopping, character greetins, and free hot chocolate/cookies.

The parade and fireworks are no brainers. What about Night and Celebrate? If the Belle storytelling is anything like the normal one, it's cute but not worth the time.

Can anyone help me decide what if anything we should skip?

we did it last year and had lots of fun!

try to get in all the shows (they're repeated throughout the night, so you should be able to catch them.) the fantasy land dance party was kinda lame. i mean it's cute, i guess. they had a couple of characters there dancing, but no big ones (at least when we were there).

we stayed for 5 min or so, did the cha-cha slide, and left. the dj was too corny for us. not the music that he was playing or anything (was cute for the kids), he just reminded us of one of those people who looked out of place, and it didn't look as though he was putting on an act. :rotfl: so, i would say if you wanted to skip this, you wouldn't miss much.

good luck! :wizard: Enjoy!

We went 2 years ago, and managed to fit in all the shows, plus the photo, hot chocolate, parade, fireworks, and numerous character greetings. We had done Belle's Storytelling earlier that day, and daughter was picked to be Lumiere, so we didn't bother with that again. We really liked Night Before Christmas -- good songs and very festive. We didn't pin shop, though, so I'm not sure how that will impact your time. My advice is to use the boards and find where some kind DISer has posted the schedule, so you can have a game-plan before you get there and make the most of your time. If you have to cut out anything, I'd say let it be the hot chocolate/cookies -- yes, it's fun to get them during the party, but you can get overly hot, slightly watery hot chocolate lots of places. ;)

BTW, we're on the Dallas side of Coit Rd., so it looks like we're neighbors!

Howdy, neighbor! My mother in law lives in the Spring Creek neighborhood. You're not my mil are you?

You're right about the hot "chocolate". I can get much better at about 10 differenct Starbucks locations within 5 miles of my house.

I've been looking at the schedule from last year, but I'm wondering if the new closing time will impact that. Will they have a 6:45 Twas the Night show if the day guest don't leave until 7:00? I guess there's nothing to do but wait. And post on Dis. And obsessively plan. And go to Starbucks.

Interesting. I can see how that would be less than exciting. And knowing my daughter, she wouldn't get up and dance anyway.

How are the characters during the party? Are they dressed up? Are there more available than on a normal day? She loved getting autographs last time so I don't mind using our more-expensive-than-usual party time to see them if it's something out of the ordinary.

:rotfl2: No, I'm not your MIL, but I did live in Spring Creek for a number of years! Maybe I know her!

When we went, one of the fun things they had was Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty with their respective princes, which was fun to see. We've got great pictures of Sleeping Beauty, Prince Phillip, and DD who was dressed up as Sleeping Beauty -- they look like a little royal family (and Prince Phillip was good looking!) DD liked the Character Hop, but we probably only stayed 15 min. or so -- once you've danced with Pinocchio once you're pretty much done, and as previous poster said, there weren't any big characters. If you're near Fantasyland, it's worth stopping by, but no big deal if you miss it, IMO.

Maybe we'll run into each other at Starbucks one day!
