We'll be at WDW for 7-9 days mid-December. I'm wondering if I should buy tickets to the party or wait till we get there and see what day has the best weather. I know they sometimes sell out but we'd have several days that we could go. Does every day sell out? I also know that it's cheaper to buy them now. The only reason I'm thinking of waiting to buy them is because of rain. Do you get a refund if it rains and the party is cancelled? Maybe I should buy them for a day early in our trip and then if it rains I can try to buy them (at the gate) for another day? Help! Thanks!!

I chose to buy the tickets now. The tickets are cheaper if bought in advance. I also chose to buy them for the first day we are there. With the MVMCP ticket, I get admission to MK without having to use a day on my PH. So, if it rains buckets or whatever mother nature chooses to toss down at us, we can move MVMCP to another day later in our trip. We have 4 days during our trip that MVMCP is offered. I really hope the first day works out though. Mickey

Our family has been to MVMCP for 4 years straight and it's never rained. I would recommend going on a week night as weekends tend to get busy. You can probably wait to buy the tickets until Sept - Oct

I suggest watching the first parade on "MAIN STREET USA". The atmosphere was awesome with the snow!

HAVE FUN !!!!

You have gone to the party 4 straight years? Why? We have been passholders for 3 years, and think that this Christmas party was the worst Disney experience we have had. It was very crowded, and most of the shows were ones we could see any day. We literally could not walk down main street it was so crowded.
Save your money and go to MGM, see the lights, buy the kids some hot chocolate, it will be cheaper and more fun.

Last December we changed our dates for MVMCP. Last December WDW had really freaky weather. Some days were hot and humid and other days it poured all day long and is was really cold (like on my birthday!). You could buy them in advance and if they change the dates if the party is not sold out. We were there 12/4-11 last year and only the party that sold out while we were there was the Friday night.

I decided that if we ever do it again, I will buy tickets after I know what the weather is going to be. You should be able to order them close to you stay and pick them up at Guest Services. The same thing had happened with our Sea World tickets. We purchased them on line, to save money from home and the weather was so dicey, we had a hard time fitting it in. Granted, it was unusual, but I figured the savings wasn't worth it.

We've gone the last 5 years and it's been one of the highlights of our December trip. You have to know how to make it work. Many people find a spot for the first parade as soon as they get there and sit for almost 2 hours, wasting the best time. We always head to the back of the park first and it's totally empty. Get our picture taken - no line. Then see a show or 2, which are not available on the days were are there at the beginning of the month. Then see the fireworks and the second parade. Last year they allowed admission at 4:00pm, we got there about 4:30pm and got a great jump on the party, lines were low before the regular 6:00pm close. Then between 6:00 (after the regular fireworks) and 7:00 MVMCP ticketholders were permitted to stay in Tomorrowland and ride and then the rest of the park reopened at 7:00.

The last 2 years I waited until we got to WDW to get the tickets. Last year had some bad rain nights. You get the discount as long as you buy before the party day. Last year I ended up buying the tickets the same day and paid extra because the weather cleared up in the afternoon (Tuesday Dec 10) and weather was iffy for Thursday. Good thing, because Thursday ended up being a total washout.

When the party gets rained out do you get a refund or does Disney give let you use the ticket for another night? Thanks!

Although they officially say non-refundable, they did give refunds or exchanges last year if requested because the parade and some shows did not run. I know the Thursday night we were at MGM when it started as we exited Osborne Lights, it was a torrential rain. I was so thankful I bought the MVMCP tickets for the previous Tuesday at the last minute, it turned out to be a beautiful warm night.

If you want to go on weekend night they tend to sell out. No it is not Disney policy to refund ticket price due to bad weather. That said 12/5/02 MVMCP rained all evening and I did see several people say they got refunds. I just wouldn't bank on it.If you want be sure ask when you buy your tickets,if you are going to buy in advance.:earsboy: :sunny: :earsgirl:
