We are planning a trip for early December and would like to attend MVMCP.

What nights of the week does it usually happen? Which is the best night to go?

From what I have read of past years, it looks like it will most likely be going on the week we will be visiting.

How long does it last?

One of the main reasons I chose to visit WDW at that time( & for the first time!) of year is because I am a huge Christmas Freak!! I am soo excited about all of the decorations. Is MVMCP worth the $$. I want this to be the vacation of a life time. (even though I am mentally planning at least one trip a year for the rest of my life...don't tell DH..he says this will be the only time we ever go:( )

Any help would be appreciated...I need some info to pursuade DH that it is worth it!!

thanks,
Danielle

Check out this link for information on last year's party...

http://allearsnet.com/tp/hol_mk.htm

It's got a list of the dates as well as the activities. I read that the worst days for MVMCP are Fridays because the locals attend that day as well.

We went last December 9 and stayed practically until 12AM. I thought it was well worth the price of admission. The parades were great and there were next to no lines for the rides. I think the longest line we waited in was for our Christmas photos.

Sundays and Tuesdays are the least crowded. Friday nights usually sellout.

We've gone in early December the past 6 years and MVMCP is a highlight. We went in 1998 "just once" to see what WDW is like for the holidays and loved it so much we have gone every year since.

I have researched this as well for our upcoming trip and we're hoping it's still happening when we get there, lol. I am pretty sure last year was Sun, Tues, Thur and Fri with Fri being the most crowded. The park will close at 6 and the party is 7pm to midnight. To me it is definitely worth the cost. You could have a late morning, not use a day of your hopper than head to MK (where it is not advertised but you can enter the park with your MVMCP party tickets) after 4pm. If it's offered when we go we plan to enter at 4pm and have dinner inside the park at Crystal Palace with Pooh & friends around 5 or 5:30 then be ready to party at 7pm. Wouldn't that make a great arrival day? Here's hoping for the 19th!!!!

It's a wonderful time to go. I did our Christmas "once in a lifetime " trip in 2000. We had to go back in 2002, and I'm trying to get us back in 2004. Don't miss the storytellers in Epcot at each country--I thought that was very interesting. I also loved the tree lighting with "Cast in Bronze". Consider doing a candlelight processional dinner package--The program is so moving, and really gets me in the holiday spirit. Try also to get to Wilderness Lodge and to the Grand Floridian--gorgeous decorations. MVMCP is very much worth the money, but try to do it one of the less crowded nights so that DH will like it better.

Thanks everyone! I can't wait!!--

Thanx, for the info.

I am excited about the storytellers, I haven't read anything about them yet!!

Here's another "once in a life-time" visitor at Christmas!! Can't wait to get back this year!! :bounce: The MVMCP is totally out of this world!! I know some people go for the additional "ride" time, but for us, we stuck with the things that you can only see at this party...like the parade...the fireworks (you have never seen fireworks like these!! :hyper: )...the snow on Main St....the free photo, hot chocolate and cookies....the special holiday shows....OH I can't wait to get back!!! :Pinkbounc

For years, I couldn't figure out why people would spend the extra $$$ to see the MK at Christmas time. Then we went ........

It IS very special. The fireworks were exceptional, but since Wishes started, I don't know how the MVMCP fireworks compare to that. We just enjoyed walking around a alot, soaking up the atmosphere, and wished we'd brought something red and/or green to wear to look more festive. Definitely avoid Friday, if you can.

The 2nd parade was definitely less crowded, especially by Splash Mtn. We went in early Dec and some of the shows could only be seen at MVMCP. As it gets closer to Christmas, the parade and those shows are during the regular admission times.

It's very, very special.

If you go for the live show's ,parade, snow on Main Street and special fireworks.I say this because some go thinking they can walk right on attractions and that crowds will not be huge. That is not the case most of the time.We have been to MVMCP at least once each year since 1992 and most year's we go twice.During this time we've attended on all the different day's MVMCP is offered. It has been our experience Tuesday MVMCP'S are the least crowded.Friday's have been the most crowded. With all the great show's and special holiday happenings make's it worth the price of the ticket to us even if we don't do one attraction.Special MVCMP button, free family photo plus free hot chocolate and cookies. So I say go and get your batteries charged to the max with Christmas spirit at the MVMCP.If you are mainly interested in doing the MK attractions save your dollars you can see them during normal park hours.:wave2:

YES!! Very much worth the $$$.

We have been a total of 3 times on 2 different vacations. Last December we went twice.
If you go just for the rides, you will find that you can walk right on most of them. Sometimes the CM will let you stay seated and ride again. Thats how un-crowded the rides can be!

But, the best part of MVMCP is all the extra fun Christmas happenings. The shows, parades, hot chocolate and cookies, family photos, and the rest of the festive fun things.

The Christmas shows, parades, etc. can be very crowded. Thats why the rides can be almost deserted.

I would definantly not miss the Christmas happenings. They will give you memories that last a lifetime. DONT MISS IT!!

Friday, I've also heard is the most crowded. We went on a Thursday and a Sunday and they were about the same. Christmas happenings crowded, rides not so much so.

If you are there for the shows, parades, etc., make sure you have a plan of what to do BEFORE you get there. Timing is important!! There is much to do, and if you don't have a plan and a schedule, you will miss out on some very fun things.

I recommend seeing the 2nd parade. It is less crowded. Plan what shows you are going to see, how long each takes, and where the next activity is. If you plan correctly you will able to see all the shows, the parade, get your family photo, have hot cocoa and cookies, and still have time for some rides and shopping. (I know that sounds like you are rushing around, but you really aren't if you have a plan. And, you can see most everything)

Anyway, Good Luck and have fun at MVMCP!
We did! Twice!

We went to MVMCP twice during our December, 2003, vacation. The first night was a Sunday and the day that we arrived at WDW. It was so awesome. It was like we had the park to ourselves. We basically did every ride that was open. The second time was the last night of MVMCP and it was a Friday night that was sold out. That MVMCP was so crowded that it was hard to move down Main Street. Luckily, we only wanted to see a couple of shows, tape the parade, and see Wishes. That was about all that we were able to accomplish.

I strongly urge anyone going to try it on a Sunday, Tuesday, or even a Thursday, but skip the Fridays because the locals make it too crowded to fully enjoy. Maggie

Does anyone know which month the dates are normally announced?! We are going to be there from 10th Dec-17th Dec....would anyone like to hazzard a guess which nights there might be a MVMCP?!!!
Thanks!

Everyone else pretty much covered it but I wanted to recomend dinner at the LTT. It opens up early for PS (mid-summer) and you can only make a PS if you have MVMCP tickets. The meal is a colonial family style with characters. The food is wonderful and it is decorated for Christmas and just feels right. I agree that it is well worth the money. We found even Tuesday nights a little crowded, but very doable.

Debs Hill, based on the last two years, I'd guess you have your choice of 10th, 12th, 14th, and 16th. Everyone is saying Fridays are very crowded so you probably wouldn't want to go on your arrival day. If you're leaving on Friday the 17th, it might be fun to go on the 16th and leave WDW with a 'bang'! We try to plan something very special on arrival and departure days!

Have fun whatever you decide.

Does anybody know when the tickets are available to bye for MVMCP, and can you buy them if you are not staying at a disney resort.?
Also can you get details of what takes place at the party prior to going?
Thanks guys Linda (UK visitor)

In 2002, we were able to order our tickets on April 21st! :hyper: You know I'll be watching again this year!! :teeth: You don't need to be staying on site to go to MVMCP. I do recommend ordering them early...not only do you get a better chance of getting the date that you want, the tickets are cheaper when you order in advance.::yes:: If anyone wants or needs a copy of the brochure from the 2002 party, feel free to PM me....I can scan it and send it to you via email!! :Pinkbounc
